Howard Springs, California
Howard Springs is set of springs turned into a resort in the 1870s in Lake County, California. The resort catered primarily to people interested in the curative powers of the mineral waters. Guests were accommodated in cabins or tents. At one time it had an official post office. The resort changed hands many times over the years, with various changes to the lodge, accommodations and bathhouses, until closing in 1970. For a period it was leased for geothermal exploration. Today it has reopened as a health resort. Location Howard Springs is located north-northeast of Whispering Pines. They are southwest of Lower Lake and northwest of Middletown. Paul Hoberg Airport
The Paul Hoberg Airport, or simply Hobergs Airport is an abandoned airport in Lake County, California, United States. It was opened in 1947 for use by guests of the nearby Hoberg's Resort, and was busy until the 1960s. By 1982 it had been abandoned. Location The Paul Hoberg Airport was just below Seigler Springs Resort, southeast of Hoberg's Resort. It was east of Loch Lomond. The airport is at an elevation of . Lower Lake (formerly Grantville) is a census-designated place (CDP) in the southern Clear Lake region of Lake County, in northern California. Lower Lake is also an Indian rancheria of the Koi Nation people. Geography Lower Lake is located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) southwest of the City of Clearlake, and southeast of Kelseyville. It is at an elevation of . Lower Lake was at one point the county seat; the Lake County elections of 1867 were hotly contested, with the seat moving between what is now the city of Lakeport and the town of Lower Lake. Middletown, California
Middletown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, California, United States. Its population was 1,323 at the 2010 census, up from 1,020 at the 2000 census. Middletown was given its name because it is halfway between Lower Lake and Calistoga, which is to the south. The town was severely damaged by the 2015 Valley Fire. History At one time, the community was known as Middle Station, and was a halfway point on the stagecoach route over Mt. St. Helena from Calistoga to Lower Lake. The first house was built at the site by J.H. Berry in 1870. The town began in 1871. The Middleton post office opened in 1871 and changed its name to Middletown in 1875.
