Howard Overman
Howard Overman is a British television writer, best known for creating the series ''Misfits'' which won the 2010 BAFTA Television Award for Best Drama Series and the police-procedural comedy ''Vexed''. Career Overman has written scripts for serial dramas such as '' Hotel Babylon'', ''New Tricks'', '' Hustle'', '' Harley Street'' and '' Merlin''. In 2010 Overman created the BBC Four drama series ''Dirk Gently'' based on the novels by Douglas Adams. He wrote the script for the pilot and the first episode and also served as an executive producer. He created the BBC One fantasy drama ''Atlantis'', first aired in autumn 2013, which ran for two series. It also managed to draw 1 million viewers away from then highly popular ITV show ''The X Factor'', which aired at the same time in the UK. ''The X Factor'' is a British reality television music competition, created by Simon Cowell. Premiering on 4 September 2004, it was produced by Fremantle's Thames and Cowell's production company Syco Entertainment for ITV, as well as simulcast on Virgin Media One in Ireland. The programme ran for around 445 episodes across fifteen series, each one primarily broadcast late in the year, until its final episode in December 2018. All episodes were presented by Dermot O'Leary, with some exceptions: the first three series were hosted by Kate Thornton; while Caroline Flack and Olly Murs hosted the show for the twelfth series. BBC Three
BBC Three is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It was first launched on 9 February 2003 with programmes targeting 16 to 34-year-olds, covering all genres including animation, comedy, current affairs, and drama series. The television channel closed down in 2016 and was replaced by an online-only BBC Three streaming channel. After six years of being online, BBC Three returned to linear television on 1 February 2022. ''Moving Wallpaper'' is a British satirical comedy-drama television series set in a TV production unit. It ran on ITV for two series in 2008–09. The subject of the first series was the production of a soap called ''Echo Beach'', each episode of which aired directly after the ''Moving Wallpaper'' episode about its production. Channel 5 is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel launched in 1997. It is the fifth national terrestrial channel in the United Kingdom and is owned by Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American media conglomerate Paramount Global, which is grouped under Paramount Networks UK & Australia division. A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". In the United States, short films were generally termed short subjects from the 1920s into the 1970s when confined to two 35 mm reels or less, and featurettes for a film of three or four reels.
