Houston ( ) is an unincorporated community in northern Loramie Township, Shelby County, Ohio, United States. It has a post office, a dollar general, and a grain elevator. The transmitter site of WHIO-FM (formerly WPTW-FM, WCLR and WDPT respectively and licensed to Piqua) is located south of the community on Aiken Road adjacent to State Route 66. The southern portion of the community was once known as Mount Jefferson, according to vintage road maps of the county before consolidation in the 1950s. Loramie Township is one of the fourteen townships of Shelby County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 2,650 people in the township. Shelby County is a county in the western portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 48,230. Its county seat is Sidney. Its name honors Isaac Shelby, first governor of Kentucky. Shelby County comprises the Sidney, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Dayton-Springfield-Sidney, OH Combined Statistical Area. Mount Jefferson is an unincorporated community in Loramie Township, Shelby County, Ohio, United States. It lies along State Route 66 south of Houston. At above sea level, it is not on a summit, but is located on the south slope of the valley formed by Ninemile Creek, a tributary of Loramie Creek.
