''House Party 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'' is the soundtrack to the 1991 American comedy film ''House Party 2''. It was released on October 15, 1991, through MCA Records after Motown was sold to PolyGram. The soundtrack consisted of a blend of hip hop and contemporary R&B with audio excerpts from the film. Production was handled by Teddy Riley, Tony! Toni! Cherokee Studios is a recording studio facility in Hollywood founded in 1972 by members of 1960s pop band The Robbs. Today is an American R&B vocal group formed in 1988. The group comprised Frederick Lee "Bubba" Drakeford, Larry "Chief" Singletary, Wesley "Wes" Adams, and Larry "Love" McCain, childhood friends from Englewood, New Jersey. History The group started in 1984 as The Gents and comprised Drakeford, McCain, William McNeir, Ronald Scruggs, and Bernard Belle. During an anti-drug benefit, the group received a meeting with the producer Teddy Riley who renamed the group Today and melded them into the current lineup. Riley helped them receive a deal with MCA Records. As the head of MCA records urban department, Jheryl Busby, moved into Motown, he brought several acts with him, including Today, The Boys and The Good Girls. Bell Biv DeVoe, also known as BBD, is an American music group from Boston, Massachusetts, formed from members of New Edition, consisting of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe. The band is best known for their debut album, the multi-platinum selling ''Poison'', a key work in the new jack swing movement of the 1990s that combined elements of traditional soul and R&B with hip hop. George Jackson (January 6, 1958 – February 10, 2000) was a film director and producer. Jackson was born and raised in Harlem, New York and graduated from Fordham Preparatory School and Harvard College. He worked with Doug McHenry as co-producer on such projects as ''Krush Groove'', ''Jason's Lyric'', ''New Jack City'', and ''Body Count'' in which he made a cameo appearance as a ticket clerk. The film returns most of the cast of the first film such as Kid 'n Play and Full Force, along with new cast members such as Queen Latifah and Iman, and more guest appearances by other famous entertainers, such as Tony! Toni! Toné! and Ralph Tresvant. The film is directed by Doug McHenry and George Jackson. In contrast to the original, ''House Party 2'' focuses less on the party aspect of the plot.
