Guy Mervin Charles Green Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE British Society of Cinematographers, BSC (5 November 191315 September 2005) was an England, English film director, producer, screenwriter, and cinematographer. In 1948 in film, 1948, he won an Academy Awards, Oscar as cinematographer for the film ''Great Expectations (1946 film), Great Expectations''. In 2002, Green was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, BAFTA, and, in 2004, he was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his lifetime contributions to British cinema. VistaVision
VistaVision is a higher resolution, widescreen variant of the 35 mm motion picture film format which was created by engineers at Paramount Pictures in 1954. Paramount never used anamorphic processes such as 2.55: 1, CinemaScope but refined the quality of its flat widescreen system by orienting the 35 mm negative horizontally in the camera gate and shooting onto a big area, which yielded the finer-grained projection print. As finer-grained film stocks appeared on the market, VistaVision became obsolete. Paramount dropped the format just after seven years, although for 40 more years the format was used by some European and Japanese producers for movies, and by USA movies such as the first three ''Star Wars'' films for high-resolution special effects sequences. Carl Jaffe
Carl Jaffe (21 March 1902 – 12 April 1974) was a German actor. Jaffe trained on the stage in his native Hamburg, Kassel and Wiesbaden before moving to Berlin, where his career began to develop. In 1933 Jaffe changed his stage name to Frank Alwar, but in 1936, with the situation for Jews in Germany rapidly deteriorating, he made the decision to migrate to the United Kingdom. He remained in the UK for the rest of his life and appeared in more than 50 films and many television productions. Throughout his British career he was often cast as German or Central European characters, usually in supporting roles, and often with a war, crime or espionage setting. Eugene Francis Deckers (22 October 1917, in Antwerp – 1977, in Paris, France) was a Belgian actor. Career After establishing himself on the British stage, Deckers made his first English language film appearance in 1946. Formerly a romantic lead, he specialized in "continental" character roles, playing many an obsequious concierge and imperious diplomat.
