''Horizon'' is the second album by American indie rock band The Rocking Horse Winner. It was released on April 30, 2002, by American record label Equal Vision Records on compact disc and digitally. American record label Friend Club Records licensed the rights to reissue the album on compact cassette on April 22, 2021. The album features the single "Miss You", for which a music video was produced with director Chris Irving and released on January 28, 2003. ''Horizon'' topped ''CMJ New Music Report'''s "Radio 200 Adds" chart as Most-Added Album on May 28, 2002, and reached No. 44 on the "CMJ Radio 200" chart on July 9, 2002. The Rocking Horse Winner (band)
The Rocking Horse Winner was an American indie rock band based in Davie, Florida. The band was formed in mid-1999 by guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Henry Olmino, bass guitarist Jeronimo Gomez, drummer, keyboardist and percussionist Matthew Crum and vocalist Jolie Lindholm. At various times, the band also included guitarist Oliver Chapoy, drummer Steve Kleisath and vocalist Kristen Lindholm. The band broke up in March 2003, though it was not announced publicly until May 2003. Prior to forming The Rocking Horse Winner, Gomez, Olmino and Crum had together played in the melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust. Gomez had also played in the metalcore band Poison the Well, while Chapoy and Kleisath had played in the metalcore band Shai Hulud. Jonah Rzadzinski Matranga (born Jonah Sonz Matranga, August 11, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist who has released a variety of solo material under his own name and onelinedrawing, and has previously been part of the bands Far and New End Original (an anagram of "onelinedrawing") and Gratitude. He left in 1987 to attend Pitzer College in Claremont, California, where he majored in English and began making music by himself. After graduation, he moved to Sacramento to form Far in 1991. Jolie Lindholm is a singer from Florida, best known for providing backing vocals on numerous Dashboard Confessional albums, as well as the lead vocalist in the indie rock band The Rocking Horse Winner. She later sang in Popvert. She currently serves as frontwoman for the post-hardcore band The Darling Fire and works for a south Florida real estate agency. In 2011, Lindholm married former The Rocking Horse Winner bandmate (and future The Darling Fire bandmate) Jeronimo Gomez. The Fest
The Fest is an annual music festival in Gainesville, Florida, United States, organized by Tony Weinbender, formerly of No Idea Records. It is a predominantly punk rock and pop-punk festival, though there are also a good number of indie rock, hardcore punk, metal, and ska acts. The Fest takes place each year on the weekend of the Florida–Georgia football game (around Halloween) held in Jacksonville. History The Fest first took place May 24 and 25, 2002, and has since attracted a large turnout throughout the years. Bands perform across a variety of venues (varying from small bars to large concert halls) in the downtown Gainesville area. Krazy Fest
Krazy Fest (originally stylized as Krazy✻Fest!) was an American music festival hosted in Louisville, Kentucky. It ran annually from 1998–2003, with a one-off comeback in 2011. The first three editions were held during Memorial Day Weekend in mid-late May. From 2001–2003, it was held between mid-June to early August. The event was first organized by Scott Ritcher (then-vocalist of Metroschifter) and Andy Rich, both co-owners the emotional hardcore record label Initial Records, in partnership with Jason Noble, then-vocalist of Shipping News, and Mark Brickey, then-vocalist of The Enkindels. Noble and Brickey were also involved with Initial Records in various functions. Ryan Patterson, senior vice-president of Initial Records, came on board in 2001. CMJ Holdings Corp. is a music events and online media company, originally founded in 1978, which ran a website, hosted an annual festival in New York City, and published two magazines, ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' and ''CMJ New Music Report''. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. The Warped Tour was a traveling rock tour that toured the United States plus three or four stops in Canada annually each summer from 1995 until 2019. It was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival to date in North America. Following the first Warped Tour, the skateboard shoe manufacturer Vans became the tour’s main sponsor, when it then became known as the Vans Warped Tour. Vans toured Australia in 1998-2002 and again in 2013. The Cancer Conspiracy
The Cancer Conspiracy was a progressive rock group from Burlington, Vermont featuring guitarist Daryl Rabidoux, drummer/keyboardist/saxophonist Greg Beadle, and bassist Brent Frattini. Rabidoux and Beadle were veterans of the local hardcore scene, and had broken away from their respective bands out of a need to try something new musically. Their initial plans were to find a vocalist and bassist, but after recruiting Frattini, decided to remain an instrumental trio. Their style draws heavily upon 70s progressive rock, particularly King Crimson and Yes, as well as fusion, hardcore, and math rock. The Militia Group is an independent record company based in Long Beach, California. History The Militia Group was founded in 1998 by Chad Pearson as a booking agency, booking for artists such as Slick Shoes, Craig's Brother, Dogwood, twothirtyeight, Acceptance, and Element 101. Pearson and Rory Felton partnered in 2000 to turn the booking agency into a record company. Both Pearson and Felton had previous experience with independent labels and artists: Pearson in Seattle, WA working at Tooth & Nail Records, and Felton in Kansas City co-operating Arise Records with Jason Irvine in Louisville, KY. Seville (band)
Seville was a rock group formed in the winter of 2001, by Mike Marsh of The Agency and Dan Bonebrake of The Vacant Andys and formerly Dashboard Confessional. They disbanded in 2003, with all members pursuing other projects. History Both The Agency and The Vacant Andys were South Florida bands active around the time that Dashboard Confessional was gaining momentum. Marsh and Bonebrake formed Seville with ex-Vacant Andy John Owens and ex-Agency Chris Drueke. Seville quickly recorded the first 6-song e.p. "Waiting In Seville" on Fiddler Records and went on tour with Dashboard Confessional.
