Hora Ot Naroda
Hora ot naroda ( bg, Хора от народа) is the fifth and final album by Bulgarian rock band Hipodil. Released on 4 December 2000, the album had guest vocalists due to bandleader Svetoslav Vitkov moving to the US to find work, so they recruited vocalists for some tracks from other Bulgarian rock bands (most notably Petar Stanoev and Nikolai Yordanov from Kontrol). Other tracks on the album were sung by keyboardist Ventsislav Mitsov, who was deputised to the bandleader position while Vitkov was in America. Vitkov himself had already recorded lead vocal tracks for the tracks "Drugo nyama" and "Partizani", and appears as a backing vocalist in "Choveche". Despite Vitkov's absence from most of the album, he is still referenced on the cover - a photo of him from the '' S gol v rukata...'' era is used as part of a fictional wanted poster on the cover, asking for 13 million lev for his capture, and a photo of him from the ''Alkoholen delirium'' era was inserted into the band photo o ... Hipodil
Hipodil ( bg, Хиподил ) was a Bulgarian rock band, founded in the late 1980s in Sofia by four classmates from the local Mathematics High School. Hipodil's popularity was based in large on their aggressive, sarcastic, sometimes vulgar and explicit but yet humorous lyrics. Because of that Hipodil were known as a "scandalous and rebellious" band. Their main goal was to entertain the listener and themselves; most of the lyrics concerned topics such as alcohol, sex, women, the status quo, etc.; they frequently ridiculed famous Bulgarian and non-Bulgarian people and even politicians (and sometimes songs). Nevertheless, the band had some pretty serious tracks with complex and socially oriented lyrics. All the lyrics were in Bulgarian and were written by vocalist Svetoslav Vitkov (''Svetlyo''). Tu'pest
''Tu'pest'' is a greatest hits compilation of the Bulgarian rock band Hipodil, released in 2000 under the Riva Sound label, the band's fifth and last release with that company. The name is a pun - from ''tup'' - Bulgarian for "dumb", and ''-est'', the superlative suffix in English as in "the best". The main purpose of the release was to finally offer most of the early hits by the band on a CD as Hipodil's first three albums were released on audio cassettes only. Despite the CD release however most of the tracks were hardly remastered and still sound pretty similar to the original versions. It was also Hipodil's first appearance on CD. As there are no singles in the classic meaning of the term and no verifiable sales or airplay charts in Bulgaria and Bulgarian record companies do not report sales figures it is also impossible to assess the commercial success of the songs in this compilation. Hipodil (EP)
''Hipodil'' is a promotional two-track EP by the Bulgarian rock band of the same name in 2002. The EP is widely known by the name of its first track "Skakauec" (Grasshopper). It was the last official release by the band under the Hipodil name and was sent to radio stations. The song was inspired by an incident on the ''Wheel of Fortune''-style game show ''Risk pecheli, risk gubi!'' in 2000. A contestant from Pernik was asked to guess the word "СКА_А_Е_", and after responding in the negative to an offer for a "joker", he answered "скакалец", although his accent made the word sound like (standard pronunciation is ) - the word turned out to be "скарабей" (scarab, a beetle Beetles are insects that form the order Coleoptera (), in the superorder Endopterygota. Kontrol
Kontrol are a Bulgarian punk band. Initially active between 1988 and 2000, they achieved stardom in the early 1990s with their first two albums, ''Bumm'' (1991) and ''Lele kako'' (1993). In 1997, their lead singer Nikolai Yordanov left and the band's popularity declined, which led to their dissolution in 2000. They reformed in their original lineup in 2009 for a short Bulgarian tour, then reformed in 2014 with a new lead singer, Ivan Gatev. History The band was formed in 1988 and were one of the first official punk bands in the country. Their first recordings, "Tryabva vsichko da priemam" and "Nai-vazhnoto", were for the 1988 film "Pred praga" (At the Doorstep). Later that year, they released a demo tape called ''Stariyat dub''. Bulgarian Lev
The lev ( bg, лев, plural: / , ; ISO 4217 code: BGN; numeric code: 975) is the currency of Bulgaria. In old Bulgarian the word "lev" meant "lion", the word 'lion' in the modern language is ''lаv'' (; in Bulgarian: ). The lev is divided in 100 ''stotinki'' (, singular: , ). Stotinka in Bulgarian means "a hundredth" and in fact is a translation of the French term "centime". Grammatically the word "stotinka" comes from the word "sto" (сто) - a hundred. Since 1997, the lev has been in a currency board arrangement with initially the Deutsche Mark at a fixed rate of BGL 1000 to DEM 1. After the introduction of the euro and the redenomination of the lev in 1999, this has resulted in a fixed rate to the euro of BGN 1.95583 : EUR 1. Alkoholen Delirium
''Alkoholen Delirium'' (''Alcoholic Delirium'') is the debut album of Bulgarian rock and roll, rock band Hipodil, released in 1993 under the Unison-RTM label. Although some tracks were included in the band's ''Tu'pest'' compilation in 2000, the album was only released on audio cassettes. The album immediately attracted the attention of the public with its explicit lyrics and punk rock, punk musical stylings, which, though not unknown in Bulgaria, were rarely recorded and performed. The album also reflected the changes in Bulgaria, which was desperately trying to cope with the legacy of the recently overturned Communism, Communist regime. Hipodil enjoyed and even abused this newfound freedom, a fact that is quite visible in their self-produced debut. Svetoslav Vitkov
Svetoslav Emilov Vitkov ( bg, Светослав Емилов Витков ; born 26 January 1971) is a Bulgarian singer and politician, best known for his work with Hipodil. In 2013, he founded the political party People's Voice (Political Party), People's Voice. History Svetoslav Emilov Vitkov was born on 26 January 1971 to Emil Vitkov and Nadezhda (''née'' Kukova). His family from his mother's side are Bulgarians (Macedonia), Bulgarians from the region of Macedonia. Vitkov has one brother named Nikolay. He was first involved in karate in 1985, and has a black belt. He has taught karate since 1995. Vitkov is a graduate of the Sofia High School of Mathematics.
