Hipodil
Hipodil ( bg, Хиподил ) was a Bulgarian rock band, founded in the late 1980s in Sofia by four classmates from the local Mathematics High School. Hipodil's popularity was based in large on their aggressive, sarcastic, sometimes vulgar and explicit but yet humorous lyrics. Because of that Hipodil were known as a "scandalous and rebellious" band. Their main goal was to entertain the listener and themselves; most of the lyrics concerned topics such as alcohol, sex, women, the status quo, etc.; they frequently ridiculed famous Bulgarian and non-Bulgarian people and even politicians (and sometimes songs). Nevertheless, the band had some pretty serious tracks with complex and socially oriented lyrics. All the lyrics were in Bulgarian and were written by vocalist Svetoslav Vitkov (''Svetlyo''). Most of the music was composed by guitarist Petar Todorov (''Pesho''). In a great number of songs, guest musicians took part, adding mainly to the brass section. History The four class ...

Nekuf Ujas, Nekuf At
Nek'uf ujas, nek'uf at (''Kinda Horror, Kinda Hell'') is the second album by the Bulgarian punk rock band Hipodil, released in 1994, the band's first under the Riva Sound label. The album followed Hipodil's debut effort from 1993 Alkoholen delirium (Alcoholic Delirium). History After the massive success of Hipodil's previous album, the band had to use the momentum and offer a consistent second product. Though this time recording and production work were better, Hipodil cleverly chose to copy the winning formula of their debut instead of searching for a new direction. Yet, Hipodil vocalist and frontman Svetoslav Vitkov put a lot of references to his favourite heavy metal influences and especially Slayer in the record. The others in the band however did not like his ideas about the projected style of the album and this ignited a quarrel, which almost led to Vitkov's departure from Hipodil. As the band had not enough time to work on their far less-than-perfect music skills after ...

Nadurveni Vuglishta
"Nadurveni vuglishta" ( bg, Надървени въглища ) is the fourth album by the Bulgarian rock band Hipodil, released on 25 November 1998 under the Riva Sound label, the band's fourth with the company. The name is a pun – in Bulgarian ''Nadurveni vuglishta'' means "Horny charcoal", but if written separately, as in ''Na durveni vuglishta'', it will still sound like the first version, but the meaning will be quite different – "Roasted on charcoal". The album was initially released on audio cassettes only and after a famous controversy (see below) was released also on a CD in 2003. Some of the tracks were included in the band's CD compilation Tu'pest in 1999. Controversy Prior the album release, the lyrics of some tracks like "Poslednoto zemno izprazvane na kosmonavta Romanenko" (Cosmonaut Romanenko's Last Jerk-off on Earth), "Arividerci" and "Vurtianalen sex" (Virtuanal Sex) leaked to Bulgarian media and shocked part of the audience with their explicit, though h ...

Tu'pest
''Tu'pest'' is a greatest hits compilation of the Bulgarian rock band Hipodil, released in 2000 under the Riva Sound label, the band's fifth and last release with that company. The name is a pun - from ''tup'' - Bulgarian for "dumb", and ''-est'', the superlative suffix in English as in "the best". The main purpose of the release was to finally offer most of the early hits by the band on a CD as Hipodil's first three albums were released on audio cassettes only. Despite the CD release however most of the tracks were hardly remastered and still sound pretty similar to the original versions. It was also Hipodil's first appearance on CD. As there are no singles in the classic meaning of the term and no verifiable sales or airplay charts in Bulgaria and Bulgarian record companies do not report sales figures it is also impossible to assess the commercial success of the songs in this compilation. Most of the songs however were Hipodil live favourites and undoubtedly enjoyed immense ...

Hipodil (single)
''Hipodil'' is a promotional two-track EP by the Bulgarian rock band of the same name in 2002. The EP is widely known by the name of its first track "Skakauec" (Grasshopper). It was the last official release by the band under the Hipodil name and was sent to radio stations. The song was inspired by an incident on the ''Wheel of Fortune''-style game show ''Risk pecheli, risk gubi!'' in 2000. A contestant from Pernik was asked to guess the word "СКА_А_Е_", and after responding in the negative to an offer for a "joker", he answered "скакалец", although his accent made the word sound like (standard pronunciation is ) - the word turned out to be "скарабей" (scarab, a beetle or an ancient Egyptian artefact). Track list Music video Two music videos were released for "Skakauec". The first one features scenes such as Svetlio dressed as a grasshopper, a telephone box reading "ТЕУЕФОН" and the band playing the song. The second one shows the band playing d ...

Hora Ot Naroda
Hora ot naroda ( bg, Хора от народа) is the fifth and final album by Bulgarian rock band Hipodil. Released on 4 December 2000, the album had guest vocalists due to bandleader Svetoslav Vitkov moving to the US to find work, so they recruited vocalists for some tracks from other Bulgarian rock bands (most notably Petar Stanoev and Nikolai Yordanov from Kontrol). Other tracks on the album were sung by keyboardist Ventsislav Mitsov, who was deputised to the bandleader position while Vitkov was in America. Vitkov himself had already recorded lead vocal tracks for the tracks "Drugo nyama" and "Partizani", and appears as a backing vocalist in "Choveche". Despite Vitkov's absence from most of the album, he is still referenced on the cover - a photo of him from the '' S gol v rukata...'' era is used as part of a fictional wanted poster on the cover, asking for 13 million lev for his capture, and a photo of him from the ''Alkoholen delirium'' era was inserted into the band photo o ...

Alkoholen Delirium
''Alkoholen Delirium'' (''Alcoholic Delirium'') is the debut album of Bulgarian rock and roll, rock band Hipodil, released in 1993 under the Unison-RTM label. Although some tracks were included in the band's ''Tu'pest'' compilation in 2000, the album was only released on audio cassettes. The album immediately attracted the attention of the public with its explicit lyrics and punk rock, punk musical stylings, which, though not unknown in Bulgaria, were rarely recorded and performed. The album also reflected the changes in Bulgaria, which was desperately trying to cope with the legacy of the recently overturned Communism, Communist regime. Hipodil enjoyed and even abused this newfound freedom, a fact that is quite visible in their self-produced debut. They also rode a wave of scandal provoked by their explicit lyrics, which helped create a cult following, mainly in Sofia and some other big cities. Analysis The music was inspired heavily by Slayer and Judas Priest. Using only Bu ...

Svetlio & The Legends
Svetlio & the Legends, also referred to as Svetlio Hipodilski i Legendite ( bg, Светльо Хиподилски и Легендите ), is a Bulgarian alternative rock band, formed in 2007 by former members of Hipodil. History Hipodil broke up in 2004, but still played gigs. In 2006, at a concert at Zimen dvorec in Sofia, Hipodil played alongside Revyu and Upsurt. They debuted a new song entitled "Let Me Da Te Love You", which used a mixed form of Bulgarian and English words. In 2007, Svetlio and the Legends released their debut album, '' Bulgarno'' in 2007. The album stated it contained 10 tracks, however only nine were released, because track 5, "Povarhnostni rani" (Повърхностни рани, Running Wounds) was said to have been plagiarised from an Italian pop song. The track "Let Me Da Te Love You" was on it, and it became a big hit. A music video was filmed for it. In 2008, the video for "Povarhnostni rani" was released, however the beginning and end of the s ...

Gojko Mitić
Gojko Mitić ( sr-Cyrl, Гојко Митић; born June 13, 1940) is a German-Serbian actor and director. He gained great popularity in the GDR as the leading actor in historical and fictional Indian personalities in numerous DEFA Indian films. His popularity may be recognizable from the fact that both in the GDR and later in the Federal Republic of Germany attempts were made to attach labels to him: "DEFA bosses" on the one hand, "Winnetou of the East" on the other. However, Gojko Mitić never portrayed the latter role in a film (although he did later at the Karl May Festival in Bad Segeberg). This Winnetou formulation refers more to the popularity of Gojko Mitić compared to the actor of the role from the West, the Frenchman Pierre Brice. According to Gojko Mitić, he speaks all Slavic languages, German, a little Italian and English. Life Mitić comes from a farming family in the village of Strojkovce near Leskovac (at the time Kingdom of Yugoslavia, today Serbia), on the V ...

Kontrol
Kontrol are a Bulgarian punk band. Initially active between 1988 and 2000, they achieved stardom in the early 1990s with their first two albums, ''Bumm'' (1991) and ''Lele kako'' (1993). In 1997, their lead singer Nikolai Yordanov left and the band's popularity declined, which led to their dissolution in 2000. They reformed in their original lineup in 2009 for a short Bulgarian tour, then reformed in 2014 with a new lead singer, Ivan Gatev. History The band was formed in 1988 and were one of the first official punk bands in the country. Their first recordings, "Tryabva vsichko da priemam" and "Nai-vazhnoto", were for the 1988 film "Pred praga" (At the Doorstep). Later that year, they released a demo tape called ''Stariyat dub''. The tape contained 8 songs. In 1989, they were signed to Balkanton and released a split LP with Nova Generacia. The Kontrol side consisted of the first six songs from ''Stariyat dub''. They then performed at the ''Svyat - chudni hora'' festival in Michuri ...
