Hopea Chinensis
''Hopea chinensis'' is a species of medium-sized tree ( tall) in the family Dipterocarpaceae. It is found in China (S and SW Guangxi, S and SE Yunnan) and northern Vietnam. Elmer Drew Merrill
Elmer Drew Merrill (October 15, 1876 – February 25, 1956) was an American botanist and taxonomist. He spent more than twenty years in the Philippines where he became a recognized authority on the flora of the Asia-Pacific region. Through the course of his career he authored nearly 500 publications, described approximately 3,000 new plant species, and amassed over one million herbarium specimens. Dipterocarpaceae is a family of 16 genera and about 695 known species of mainly tropical lowland rainforest trees. ''Hopea'' is a genus of plants in the family Dipterocarpaceae. The genus was named after John Hope, 1725–1786, the first Regius Keeper of the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh.
