Hope And Anchor, Hammersmith
The Hope and Anchor is a Grade II listed public house at 20 Macbeth Street, Hammersmith, London. It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. It was built in 1936 for Truman's Brewery Truman's Brewery was a large East London brewery and one of the largest brewers in the world at the end of the 19th century. Founded around 1666, the Black Eagle Brewery was established on a plot of land next to what is now Brick Lane in London, E1 ..., but the architect is not known. It is described by English Heritage as a "particularly fine and intact example of an inter-war pub in a Neo-Georgian style". As of 2012, it is closed and available to let. Hammersmith is a district of West London, England, southwest of Charing Cross. It is the administrative centre of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, and identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is an independent voluntary consumer organisation headquartered in St Albans, England, which promotes real ale, cider and perry and traditional British pubs and clubs. Truman's Brewery
Truman's Brewery was a large East London brewery and one of the largest brewers in the world at the end of the 19th century. Founded around 1666, the Black Eagle Brewery was established on a plot of land next to what is now Brick Lane in London, E1.
