''HoopWorld'' is a 3-on-3 Multiplayer video game, multiplayer arcade basketball game with a kung-fu power-up twist, released in North America on July 19, 2010 and in the PAL region on August 13, 2010 exclusively for WiiWare. HoopWorld utilizes power-up gameplay, basketball and Chinese martial arts, Kung-fu to create a unique and competitive experience reminiscent of ''Arch Rivals'', ''NBA Jam'', and ''Power Stone (video game), Power Stone''. Gameplay HoopWorld is an action sports basketball game in arcade style where two teams fight each other in order to defend their home courts. The point of the game is to get the highest score possible before match time runs out. The player runs, fights, kicks, steals the ball from opponents, and performs dunks and ball passes to win the match. Tommy Refenes
Tommy Refenes is an American video game designer and programmer, best known for his work on the game ''Super Meat Boy'', a platformer he co-created with designer Edmund McMillen. Early life Refenes began programming at the age of eleven, and has been doing so professionally since the age of 18, initially contracting for a website whose owner had threatened to sue him over a parody Flash game he had made. He dropped out of North Carolina State University; he later told gaming blog Brutal Gamer "if you want to be a programmer, do not go to college." ''Super Meat Boy'' is a 2010 platform game designed by Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes under the collective name of "Team Meat". It was self-published as the successor to ''Meat Boy'', a 2008 flash game designed by McMillen and Jonathan McEntee. In the game, the player controls Meat Boy, a red, cube-shaped character, as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the game's antagonist Dr. Fetus. The Wii Shop Channel is a former digital distribution service for the Wii video game console. The service allowed users to purchase and play additional software for the Wii (called Channels), including exclusive games (branded WiiWare), and games from prior generations of video games (marketed with the Virtual Console brand).
