Hong Kong News-Expo
Hong Kong News-Expo is a museum dedicated to the history and significance of the news media in Hong Kong. It is housed inside the former Bridges Street Market at No. 2, Bridges Street in Central District, Hong Kong Island. The heritage building was among the first batch of public markets built after the end of World War II and was opened in 1953. The building sits partly on the former site of the American Congregational Mission Preaching Hall, where Dr Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China, was baptised in 1884. In 2013, under Batch III of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme, the Journalism Education Foundation Hong Kong Limited was granted the right to revitalise the property into Asia's first education facility with news as the main theme. In April 2016, the Legislative Council's Finance Committee approved the allocation of HK$85.3 million for the revitalisation project. The venue has a total floor area of about 10,000 square feet. Bridges Street
Bridges Street () is a 300-metre two-way street in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. Location On the east, the street intersects Shing Wong Street and Staunton Street. On the west, it intersects Square Street. The west side of the street ends with a staircase which connects Tai Ping Shan Street. Therefore, to go to Hollywood Road, drivers must drive back to Aberdeen Street. Naming Its name comes from William Thomas Bridges, a British lawyer, Acting Attorney General and Acting Colonial Secretary, who was active in Hong Kong from 1851 to 1861. Sheung Wan
Sheung Wan is an area in Hong Kong, located in the north-west of Hong Kong Island, between Central and Sai Ying Pun. Administratively, it is part of the Central and Western District. The name can be variously interpreted as ''Upper District'' (occupying relatively high ground compared to Central and Wan Chai), or ''Gateway District'' (perhaps a reference to the location where the British first entered and occupied Hong Kong). The Revitalising Historic Buildings through Partnership Scheme () is an initiative launched by the Hong Kong Government, part of a broader policy of heritage conservation in Hong Kong. Charles Robert Hager
Rev. Dr. Charles Robert Hager (October 27, 1851 - July 13, 1917) was a Swiss-born American missionary sent to Hong Kong and China by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) to start the Hong Kong Mission (later renamed as South China Mission) in 1883. He was best known as the baptizer of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the first president and founding father of the Republic of China. Rev.
