Hong Kong East Cluster
Hong Kong East Cluster () is one of the seven hospital clusters managed by Hospital Authority in Hong Kong. It consists of seven public hospitals and 12 general outpatient clinics to provide public healthcare services for the population of Eastern, Wan Chai and Islands Districts (except North Lantau). In mid-2012, the population was 825,400. The current Cluster chief executive is Dr. Luk Che-chung. Hospital Authority
The Hospital Authority is a statutory body managing all the government hospitals and institutes in Hong Kong. It is under the governance of its board and is under the monitor of the Secretary for Food and Health of the Hong Kong Government. Its chairman is Henry Fan. History Before the establishment of the authority, all health and medical issues were under the management of the Medical and Health Department. In 1990, a new health administration system was introduced as part of the 1989 reforms. The establishment of the Authority served to rebuild state capacity amid the emergence of party politics in Hong Kong. The department became the Department of Health and in 1991, the management of all the public hospitals was passed to a new statutory body, the Hospital Authority, which was established on 1 December 1990 under the Hospital Authority Ordinance. The Eastern District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It had a population of 588,094 in 2011. The district has the second highest population while its residents have the third highest median household income among 18 districts. Islands District
The Islands District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is part of the New Territories. It had a population of 170,900 in 2018. Hong Kong consists of a peninsula and 263 islands. The Islands District consists of some twenty large and small islands which lie to the south and southwest of Hong Kong. North Lantau New Town
North Lantau New Town is the newest of the nine new towns in Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, located on the northern coast of the Lantau Island in the New Territories. It covers Tung Chung, Tai Ho Wan, Siu Ho Wan, other parts of northeast Lantau Island, and the reclaimed land along the coast between them. It is the only new town in the Islands District and the youngest new town in Hong Kong. As the commercial, residential and community facilities in the New Town are concentrated in Tung Chung, it has been renamed Tung Chung New Town in recent official government documents. Tang Shiu Kin Hospital
Tang Shiu Kin Hospital () is a community hospital on Morrison Hill in Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It was opened in 1969 to replace the Eastern Public Dispensary and other clinics on Hong Kong Island. The hospital merged administratively and operationally with Ruttonjee Hospital in 1998 to form one hospital and is a critical centre for emergency and vehicular accidents. Both names are kept. It was named after its benefactor, the late Sir Tang Shiu-kin, Kt, C.B.E., LL.D. O.S.T. (Japan), J.P., KStJ, a famous Hong Kong philanthropist.
