The Hong Kong Champion Middle-distance Horse is an honour given in Hong Kong thoroughbred horse racing. It is awarded annually by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). Viva Pataca () (foaled 7 May 2002) is a British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse, who achieved his greatest success when trained in Hong Kong. Background Bred by the Dukes of Devonshire and Roxburghe, he was out of the mare Comic and sired by English Group One winner, Marju. He was purchased by Neil Greig - Osborne House for 26,000 guineas at the 2003 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and given the name "Comic Strip." Racing career 2004–2005: Britain Trained by Sir Mark Prescott at age two, Comic Strip won five of his six starts. Rapper Dragon
Rapper Dragon, (, 27 August 2012 – 7 May 2017) was an Australian-bred Thoroughbred racehorse. When racing as a two-year-old in Australia he showed considerable promise as he won one race and finished second in both The Schweppervescence and Champagne Stakes. After being gelded and sent to race in Hong Kong he ran well as a three-year-old, making steady improvement and ending his second season with a win in the Lion Rock Trophy. In the following season he was the dominant racehorse in Hong Kong, taking the Hong Kong Classic Mile, Hong Kong Classic Cup, Hong Kong Derby and Chairman's Trophy but sustained a fatal injury in the Champions Mile. Designs On Rome (foaled 17 March 2010) is an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse. He is best known for his performances in Hong Kong where he was named Horse of the Year in 2014. Background Designs On Rome is a bay gelding bred in Ireland by the Moyglare Stud. Collection () is an Irish-bred, Hong Kong based Thoroughbred racehorse. In the season of 2008–09, Collection won the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby (HK G1-2000m) on 22 March. John Moore (born 17 March 1950) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. Moore was born in Sydney, Australia, The son of jockey and trainer George Moore. David Ferraris
__NOTOC__ David E. Ferraris (born 18 August 1963, in South Africa) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trainer in Hong Kong. Born into a racing family, his father, Ormond Ferraris, was a champion trainer in South African racing. He won the South African trainers' title on four occasions, netting 25 Grade 1 victories in well over 1000 wins with the champions Classic Flag and Celtic Grove his most outstanding performers. Among his notable wins were the 1997 and 1998 Durban July Handicaps, he trained the winners Super Quality and Classic Flag. The Durban July is considered to be South Africa's premier race.
