Home To Roost (Atomic Rooster Album)
''Home to Roost'' is a compilation album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. It is made up of material from their first three studio albums. It has been issued on at least three separate occasions. The first time was in 1977, as a double LP on the Mooncrest label. In 1986 it was reissued with a new sleeve design on the Raw Power (Castle Communications) label. This time, the two LPs were accompanied by a 12 track CD release, which was Atomic Rooster's first in that format. Early CDs only had just over one hour's maximum playing time, causing 8 of the 20 tracks to be omitted, in order to facilitate a single disc. Atomic Rooster
Atomic Rooster are a British rock band originally formed by members of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, organist Vincent Crane and drummer Carl Palmer. Throughout their history, keyboardist Vincent Crane was the only constant member and wrote the majority of their material. Their history is defined by two periods: the early-mid-1970s and the early 1980s. The band went through radical style changes, but they are best known for the hard, progressive rock sound of their hit singles, " Tomorrow Night" (UK No. 11) and "Devil's Answer" (UK No. 4), both in 1971. Mooncrest Records is a British record label that was formed in 1973 as a subsidiary of Charisma Records. They issued albums by Shirley Collins (''No Roses'') (1971), Iain Matthews (''Journeys from Gospel Oak'') (1972), Nazareth (band), Nazareth (1973–75), Shakin' Stevens (''Jungle Rock'') (1976) and Alan Hull (''Back to Basics (Alan Hull album), Back to Basics'') (1994). More recently they have handled Fairport Convention and Michael Chapman (singer), Michael Chapman. The albums use the word "Crest" and the singles use the word "Moon" in their number. ''The Devil Hits Back'' is a compilation album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. Shortly after the death in 1989 of Atomic Rooster founder member Vincent Crane, it was compiled as a tribute by his widow, Jean, and former bandmate John Du Cann. As well as containing a dozen latter-era Atomic Rooster tracks, all its reissues are rounded out by Atomic Rooster's three Beat-Club appearances, dating from 1971 and 1972. Castle Communications, also known as Castle Music, was a British independent record label and home video distributor founded in 1983 by Terry Shand, Cliff Dane, and Jon Beecher.
