"Home and Away" is the theme song to the Australian soap opera, '' Home and Away''. It was composed by Mike Perjanik and originally performed by Karen Boddington and Mark Williams. Their version was released as a single in 1989 and peaked at number 73 on the UK Singles Chart. There have been nine different recorded versions of the theme song used over the years, including two recorded by Australian sibling trio The Robertson Brothers. From 2010 until 2017, the ''Home and Away'' theme song was not used in the show's opening titles and was replaced by a short instrumental version. However, in 2018, two new eight-second versions of the theme song made a return to the opening titles after an eight-year absence. Karen Boddington and Mark Williams formed the Australian vocal duet that sang the original theme tune for the TV soap ''Home and Away''. Irene Roberts is a fictional character from the Australian television soap opera ''Home and Away''. She was originally played by actress Jacqy Phillips from her introduction in Episode 887 shown on 29 October 1991, until 13 May 1992 (Episode 1003). Following Phillips' departure, the part was recast to Lynne McGranger, who debuted in Episode 1147, broadcast on 12 January 1993. Irene was initially a recurring character, but on 7 October 1993 McGranger was promoted to the regular cast. McGranger is one of the longest-serving cast members on the show.
