Holy Family Church, Ramallah
The Holy Family Church ( ar, كنيسة العائلة المقدسة) It is a Catholic Church located in Ramallah, in the West Bank, in the State of Palestine. Latin rites Catholics settled in Ramallah after the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Rosary Sisters opened a school for girls and a boarding school for boys in the decade of 1860–1870. Forty children become the Latin rite and soon a cure, Pierre Cotta, celebrate Mass in a house in the neighborhood of Hatha. He asks later the Latin Patriarch, Archbishop Valerga building a church, but permission by the civil authorities only reaches forty years later. There are 150 Catholics in 1870, and 242 in 1902. The construction of the present church began in 1913 with the permission of the Ottoman authorities who then ruled the place. A rectory, a convent for the nuns of the Holy Rosary and a school (high school now mixed) are also included. Ramallah
Ramallah ( , ; ar, رام الله, , God's Height) is a Palestinian city in the central West Bank that serves as the ''de facto'' administrative capital of the State of Palestine. It is situated on the Judaean Mountains, north of Jerusalem, at an average elevation of above sea level, adjacent to al-Bireh. Ramallah has buildings containing masonry from the period of Herod the Great, but no complete building predates the Crusades of the 11th century. The modern city was founded during the 16th century by the Hadadeens, an Arab Christian clan descended from Ghassanids. Latin liturgical rites, or Western liturgical rites, are Catholic rites of public worship employed by the Latin Church, the largest particular church ''sui iuris'' of the Catholic Church, that originated in Europe where the Latin language once dominated. Catholic Church In Palestine
The Catholic Church in Palestine is part of the worldwide Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. There are over 80,000 Catholics in Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories (the Gaza Strip and the West Bank), mostly in the agglomeration between Ramallah and Bethlehem, including the West Bank-suburbs of Jerusalem. Holy Family Church, Gaza
The Holy Family Church ( ar, كنيسة العائلة المقدسة ) is the only Catholic church in Gaza City and in the Gaza Strip, State of Palestine. Its priest in charge Gabriel Romanelli, assisted by a vicar also from the same institution. The church also runs two primary and secondary schools, plus some clinics. The parish receives the support of the Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (also present in Bethlehem, Jaffa and Egypt) and the Rosary Sisters. They take care of the sick, disabled, elderly, regardless of their religion. As of 2021, the tiny Catholic community in the Gaza Strip consisted of 133 people.
