Holy Cross Church, Wiikwemkoong
Holy Cross Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in the Wiikwemkoong First Nation, Wiikwemkoong Unceded Reserve, north-eastern Manitoulin island. It was founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1844 and was their first Christian mission, mission in Northern Ontario since their Suppression of the Society of Jesus, suppression in 1767. The Wiikwemkoong First Nation is a First Nations in Canada, First Nation on Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario. The Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (nicknamed Wiky, previously named Wikwemikong) is the First Nations in Canada, First Nation Indian reserve, reserve in the northeast of Manitoulin Island in Manitoulin District, Ontario, Manitoulin District, Ontario, Canada. Ojibwe
The Ojibwe, Ojibwa, Chippewa, or Saulteaux are an Anishinaabe people in what is currently southern Canada, the northern Midwestern United States, and Northern Plains. According to the U.S. census, in the United States Ojibwe people are one of the largest tribal populations among Native American peoples. In Canada, they are the second-largest First Nations population, surpassed only by the Cree. They are one of the most numerous Indigenous Peoples north of the Rio Grande. Crystal Shawanda (born July 26, 1983) is a Canadian blues and country music artist. CMT documented her rise to fame in the six-part series ''Crystal: Living the Dream'', which was broadcast in February 2008. De-ba-jeh-mu-jig Theatre Group
The Debajehmujig Storytellers, also Debahehmyjig Theatre Group, or informally Debaj, is a First Nations theatre group and multi-arts organization based in the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario. Debaj is the longest running Indigenous theatre in North America. History ''Debajehmujig'' is from the Ojibwe (''debaajimoojig'') and Cree (''tepācimūcik''), both meaning "storytellers". Debajehmujig was founded by Shirley Cheechoo, Blake Debassige and colleagues in 1984 in M'Chigeeng First Nation (formerly known as West Bay) on Manitoulin Island. Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation
Atikameksheng Anishnawbek (Anishinaabe language: ''Adikamegosheng Anishinaabeg'', syncoped as ''Dikmegsheng Nishnaabeg''), formerly known as the Whitefish Lake First Nation, is an Ojibway First Nation in northern Ontario, Canada. Its reserve is located at Whitefish Lake 6 on the shores of Whitefish Lake, 20 km southwest of Sudbury. It is immediately south of the community of Naughton in Greater Sudbury, and is considered part of Greater Sudbury's Census Metropolitan Area. In the Canada 2016 Census, the community of Whitefish Lake had a population of 386 living on the reserve, a decrease of 2.0% from 2011.
