HoltÃ¥len is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Gauldalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality is located in the Ã…len area of the village of Renbygda. Other villages in the municipality include Hessdalen, Aunegrenda, and Haltdalen. The municipality is the 89th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. HoltÃ¥len is the 283rd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,953. General information The municipality of '' Holtaalen'' was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law). Haltdalen
Haltdalen is a village in HoltÃ¥len municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the river Gaula, about northwest of the village of Renbygda and about southwest of the village of Aunegrenda. The village of Haltdalen has approximately 600 inhabitants (2004). It is situated along the Rørosbanen railway line connecting the town of Røros and the village of Støren. From 1838 until 1972, the village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Haltdalen. Haltdalen is known for the old Haltdalen Stave Church that was built in the 12th century.
