Holman Williams
Holman Williams (January 30, 1915 in Pensacola, Florida – July 15, 1967) was a world welterweight and middleweight boxing contender. Williams is a member of the infamous Murderers' Row, a group of black fighters who were never able to get a world title shot. Boxing career Williams began boxing as an amateur in 1928 as a bantamweight and had a successful 38-bout career. In 1932 he turned pro as a featherweight and would eventually be recognized as one of the most clever welterweights and middleweights of his era. In his career Williams fought in the Lightweight, welterweight and middleweight divisions, he fought notable champions and contenders such as Cocoa Kid, Charley Burley, Eddie Booker, Bob Satterfield, Archie Moore, Marcel Cerdan and Jake LaMotta. Born in Santurse, Puerto Rico, his family relocated to Buffalo, New York when Brimm was 5 years old., Brimm finished his career with a 26–17–4 record. Tommy Paul
Tommy Paul (4 March 1909 – 28 April 1991) was a world featherweight boxing champion from Buffalo, New York. He won the world featherweight championship in May 1932, defeating Johnny Pena in a boxing tournament in Detroit. He was inducted into the first class of Buffalo’s Ring No. 44 Boxing Hall of Fame and in 2003 to the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. He retired from the ring in 1935. Robert Pacho (August 1, 1911 – May 1, 1978) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1928 to 1941, twice challenging for the welterweight world title in 1939. Isadoro Anthony "Izzy" Jannazzo (January 31, 1915 – June 18, 1995) was an American professional boxer who challenged Barney Ross for the NYSAC, NBA, and ''The Ring'' magazine world welterweight championship in November 1936, and took the Maryland version of the World Welterweight Championship in October 1940. Jack Chase (American Boxer)
Jack Chase (1914-1972) was an African-American middleweight, who boxed in the 1930s and 1940s. He was born in Texas and fought mainly on the west coast of the United States. He boxed under the name ‘Young Joe Lewis’ for the first part of his career, before changing to Jack Chase in 1942. His official fight count stands at 122, but it is believed he competed in an additional 40 plus fights prior to 1936, during which time his full record is unknown. He was ranked second in the world in his division, but never took part in a world title fight. He is included in the set remembered as ‘Murderers’ Row’, a term used by Budd Schulberg to describe those boxers of the era who were so feared that they were avoided by title holders and so were unable to ever secure a title shot. Lloyd Marshall
Lloyd Marshall (June 4, 1914 – August 4, 1997) was an American light heavyweight Boxing, boxer who was inducted posthumously into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in June 2010. Pro career Marshall began his boxing career at the age of 17 and turned pro in 1936. In 1943 Marshall fought for the "Duration" Light Heavyweight Title against Jimmy Bivins. During the bout, Bivins was knocked down in the 7th for a 2-count, and then Marshall was down for nine in the 9th, and at the bell in the 12th. Marshall was then counted out in the 13th to lose the bout. In 1944 he captured the Vacant "Duration" World Light Heavyweight Title with a victory over Nate Bolden. Due to the fact that he fought at his peak during World War II, Marshall never fought for an officially recognized world title.
