Holiday (2018 Film)
''Holiday'' is a 2018 internationally co-produced drama film directed by Isabella Eklöf and produced by David B. Sørensen. It was screened in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. The film won four Bodil Awards, including Best Danish Film. Plot Michael is a drug dealer who takes his friends, including younger girlfriend Sascha, on a vacation to Bodrum in the Turkish Riviera. There, they engage in activities such as sunbathing and enjoying the water park. While visiting an ice cream shop, Sascha meets two Dutch men, Frederik and Tomas, and speaks with them informally. Sascha and her friends go to a restaurant for dinner and she spots the Dutch men again and speaks to them. She meets Tomas one night and shares drugs with him. When one of his men, Musse, shows up at the house, Michael viciously beats him, fearing the police could have followed Musse to him. Isabella Eklöf
Isabella Eklöf (born 10 February 1978) is a Swedish screenwriter and film director. Eklöf attended the National Film School of Denmark. She served on the crew as a "runner" for the 2008 Swedish film ''Let the Right One In (film), Let the Right One In''. Eklöf co-wrote the 2018 Swedish film ''Border (2018 Swedish film), Border'' with director Ali Abbasi (director), Ali Abbasi; together they expanded on the source material, a short story by John Ajvide Lindqvist. For ''Border'', Eklöf, Abbasi and Lindqvist were nominated for the Guldbagge Award for Best Screenplay; they were also nominated for the European Film Award for Best Screenwriter. Fantastic Fest is an annual film festival in Austin, Texas. The Bodil Awards are the major Danish film awards given by the Danish Film Critics Association. The awards are presented annually at a ceremony in Copenhagen. Established in 1948, it is one of the oldest film awards in Europe. The awards are given without regard to commercial interests or box-office sales, but rather to highlight the films or actors that the critics regard as most worthy. The name of the award honours two of the most important actresses in Danish cinema, Bodil Kjer and Bodil Ipsen.
