Bodil Award For Best Cinematographer
The Bodil Award for Best Cinematographer ( da, Bodilpris for bedste fotograf) is one of the special awards at the annual Danish Bodil Awards presented by the Danish Film Critics Association. First awarded in 2006, the Danish Film Critics Association has rewarded cinematographer from as early as 1949. History When the Bodil Awards started out in 1948, it only had seven categories: Best Danish Film, Best Leading Actress, Best Leading Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best European Film, and Best American Film. Already at the 2nd Bodil Awards in 1949, the limitations of the seven categories became apparent, and the Bodil Honorary Award was instigated. And it was not at first handed out as a lifetime achievement award, it was given to Annelise Reenberg, Denmark's first female cinematographer, specifically for her shooting of ' (1948). Bodil Awards
The Bodil Awards are the major Danish film awards given by the Danish Film Critics Association. The awards are presented annually at a ceremony in Copenhagen. Established in 1948, it is one of the oldest film awards in Europe. The awards are given without regard to commercial interests or box-office sales, but rather to highlight the films or actors that the critics regard as most worthy. The name of the award honours two of the most important actresses in Danish cinema, Bodil Kjer and Bodil Ipsen. The statuette is made of porcelain, and was designed by Danish artist and sculpted by Svend Jespersen of Bing & Grøndahl. Johan Ankerstjerne
Johan Valdemar Ankerstjerne (17 January 1886 – 18 August 1959) was a Danish cinematographer who for many years was head of cinematography at Nordisk Film. He was reportedly the best cameraman in Denmark in the 1910s, making many films for August Blom from 1911 until 1916 and then for Benjamin Christensen. He created the unique "images of Haxan". In 1932 he founded Denmark's first film laboratory, Johan Ankerstjerne A/S which, after merging with Nordisk Film Teknik, became the largest production facility in the country. Career Ankerstjerne first became a watchmaker in Randers. In 1907, he also became an operator in the town's first cinema. It was not long before he decided to make films himself, starting with short documentaries. ''Zappa'' is a 1983 Danish coming-of-age drama film directed by Bille August. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival and was entered into the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. The film was also selected as the Danish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 56th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. ''Tree of Knowledge'' ( da, Kundskabens træ) is a 1981 Danish coming-of-age drama directed by Nils Malmros. The film details the lives of 17 teenage schoolmates in 1950s Denmark.
