Holger Höhne
Holger "Holgi" Höhne (born 6 May 1970 in Füssen) is a German curler. He was a longtime member of the Andy Kapp rink. Currently, he coaches the German national women's team. Höhne has been playing with Kapp since 1992. However, he was only the team's alternate until joining the team as a regular thrower in 1995 at the lead position. Höhne's first tournament as lead was the 1995 Ford World Curling Championships, were the team won a bronze medal. This was added to Höhne's bronze medal at the 1994 Worlds as an alternate and a gold at the 1992 European Curling Championships. While playing lead for the team, Höhne won silver at the 1997 Ford World Curling Championships, a gold at the 1997 European Championships and a bronze at the 2005 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends. The player can induce a curved path, described as ''curl'', by causing the stone to slowly rotate as it slides. 1998 Winter Olympics
The 1998 Winter Olympics, officially known as the and commonly known as Nagano 1998 ( ja, 長野1998), was a winter multi-sport event held from 7 to 22 February 1998, mainly in Nagano, Japan, with some events taking place in the nearby mountain communities of Hakuba, Karuizawa, Nozawa Onsen, and Yamanouchi. The city of Nagano had previously been a candidate to host the 1940 Winter Olympics (which were later cancelled), as well as the 1972 Winter Olympics, but had been eliminated at the national level by Sapporo on both occasions. Mia Höhne
Mia Höhne (born 29 September 2000) is a German curler from Füssen. She currently plays third on the German National Women's Curling Team skipped by Emira Abbes. Career Höhne skipped the German national junior women's curling team from 2016 to 2020. She never qualified for the World Junior Curling Championships through the World Junior B Curling Championships. She joined the women's rink of Daniela Jentsch as their alternate in 2019 and they went 5–7 at the 2019 World Women's Curling Championship. Höhne was promoted to third on Team Jentsch when they represented Germany at the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship, which was played in a bio-secure bubble in Calgary, Canada due the ongoing pandemic. The team had to play with just three players as second Klara-Hermine Fomm and alternate Emira Abbes tested positive for COVID-19 upon their arrival, and had to be quarantined. Uli Kapp
Ulrich "Uli" Kapp (born 14 April 1971 in Füssen) is a retired German curler from Übersee. Career Kapp has played third for his brother Andy Kapp since 1992. Together, they have won European Curling Championships (1992 and 1997), two silver medals at the World Curling Championships (1997, 2007) and three bronze medals (1994, 1995 and 2005). He competed for Germany at the 1998 and 2006 Winter Olympics, finishing in eighth place on both occasions. Kapp had to have season-ending knee surgery after the 2007 European Curling Championships, and thus could not attend the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship with the rest of his team.
