Hockeyville
''Kraft Hockeyville'' is an annual competition sponsored by Kraft Heinz, the National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association in which communities compete to demonstrate their commitment to the sport of ice hockey. The winning community gets a cash prize dedicated to upgrading their local home arena, as well as the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game. Runners-up also get smaller cash prizes to upgrade their ice rinks. The contest is normally held in the winter and spring during the latter half of the NHL regular season, with the pre-season game usually held in September before the following regular season. If the winning arena is not adequately equipped to host the pre-season game, it is then played at an alternative site nearby. The idea and theme was developed by Capital C, a Canadian Advertising Agency that was founded by Tony Chapman. Salmon River, Colchester County (community)
Salmon River is an unincorporated Canadian suburban community in central Nova Scotia's Colchester County. A suburb of the town of Truro, Salmon River is located on the south side of the Salmon River, from which it derives its name. The defining feature in the community is Canadian National Railway's Truro Yard, located in the river flood plain. Newer suburban developments in Salmon River range up the hill along the south side of the valley. Salmon River was the winning entrant in the nationwide 2006 Hockeyville contest. Deuville Rink A privately owned outdoor community skating rink was created by local resident Webb Deuville in 1958. The Deuville family subsequently upgraded and covered the rink with a structure in 1989, however in the mid 1990s the ice was still naturally frozen, limiting the skating season. The ''NHL on NBC'' is an American presentation of National Hockey League (NHL) games produced by NBC Sports, and televised on NBC properties, including MSNBC, CNBC, Golf Channel, USA Network and NBCSN in the United States. North Bay is a city in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is the seat of Nipissing District, and takes its name from its position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. Falher (, ) is a town in the Peace Country area of Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130, along Highway 49. Falher is one of the earliest agricultural communities in the Peace River Country and is notable for its sizable francophone population. History The area was known to missionaries before it was surveyed in 1909 as an Indian trail that led to British Columbia and where the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway later laid its tracks. In 1912, the settlement of Mission St-Jean Baptiste de Falher was opened from the current location of the Town of Falher. The Colchester Legion Stadium is a 1625-seat multi-purpose arena in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Colchester Legion Stadium has six team dressing rooms, an officials room and first aid room. Canteens and washrooms are located at the front of the facility. Upstairs is a fully heated lounge which overlooks the ice surface or main venue area of the stadium. The facility served as home to the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) from 1996 until 2013 until the team moved to the new Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
