Hobart Devils
The Hobart Devils are a defunct professional basketball team that competed in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). Based in Hobart, Tasmania, the team was the only representative from the state of Tasmania for the majority of its tenure, but was one of three teams (the Geelong Supercats and the Gold Coast Rollers being the other two) that had their NBL licenses revoked by the league directors in 1996 due to financial difficulties. While not the first time teams had pulled out of the league, the sudden departure of the Devils, Supercats and Rollers signified that the NBL's successful era (between the late 1980s and early 1990s) was truly over. Tasmania went unrepresented in the National Basketball League for 26 years, until the commencement of the 2021–22 NBL season with the inclusion of the Tasmania JackJumpers. Aaron Douglas is an American former professional basketball player. High school career Douglas attended West Florence High School in his native Florence, South Carolina, where he played basketball and became the top scorer in school history. As a sophomore, he averaged 16 points per game en route to his first all-city selection. As a junior, he led the city in scoring with 21.1 points per game to earn his first all-state selection. He scored a school-record 38 points in a win over Conway High School in January 1977. Paul Stanley (basketball)
Paul Stanley (born 1963) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Waynesburg University and had a four-year career in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL), where he was the league's scoring champion in 1987. Between 1981 and 1985, Stanley played four seasons of college basketball for the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets. He graduated as the school's all-time leader in totals points, finishing with 1,916 points in 111 career games. He led the team in scoring as a sophomore (16.4 ppg) and senior (21.7 ppg), and during his senior season, he had a 38-point effort against Westminster. In 1986, Stanley made his debut in the Australian NBL with the Melbourne Tigers. He scored 40 points or more five time, including having a 50-point game. Joe Hurst
"Jumping" Joe Hurst (born East Saint Louis, Illinois), is a retired professional basketball player. In 1982, Hurst earned a sporting scholarship with Northwest Missouri State University. In five years, he played more than 200 games, and was all-conference representative for three years. During his last two seasons he was MVP and named in the All-MIAA First Team. Hurst was in his final year of university at Northwest Missouri State when he suffered an ankle injury derailing his NBA draft chances. Hurst left Northwest in the top five in both career scoring (1,580 points) and rebounding (777). He also set the all-time mark for blocked shots with 153. After retiring he became a television commentator, focusing on basketball, occasionally covering other sports.
