Hittisau
Hittisau is a municipality in the Bregenz (district), district of Bregenz in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. Hittisau has a surface area of 46.65 km². It lies in the Bregenz Forest, Bregenzerwald in the west of the country. Hittisau is a member of the German-Austrian community project Naturpark Nagelfluhkette. Population History In 1249, "Hittinsowe" was reported for the first time in a document. In 1754, Hittisau counted 1000 inhabitants, in 1850 there were 2087 Hittisauers. In 1908 electricity came to the municipality. The water company was built in 1929. Culture The parish church Hl. Drei Könige was built from 1843 to 1845. The artist Josef Bucher painted the canvas (of the three kings) for the high altar around 1850. Christian Moosbrugger contributed a lot to the sculpture of the church. Bregenzerwald
The Bregenz Forest (german: Bregenzerwald, ) is one of the main regions in the States of Austria, state of Vorarlberg (Austria). It overlaps, but is not coterminous with, the Bregenz Forest Mountains, which belong to a mountain range, range of the Northern Limestone Alps, specifically the northern flysch zone. It is the drainage basin of the Bregenzer Ach river. Geography The regional inhabitants often divide the Bregenz Forest into two main areas, the Vorderwald ('anterior forest') and Hinterwald ('hinterforest'). The Vorderwald, with its hills and low mountains, is closest to the Rhine valley. The Hinterwald has the higher mountains, with altitudes of up to 2,000 metres. International Association Of Women's Museums
The International Association of Women's Museums (IAWM) is an organisation with its foundation office in Bonn (Germany) and its administrative office in Merano (Italy). The network was founded in 2008 in Merano and transformed into an association in Alice Springs (Australia) in 2012. It has the goal to connect women's museums worldwide and to advocate for their interests. IAWM is led by six board members from different continents. The chairwoman is currently Mona Holm from Norway and the coordinator of the network is Astrid Schönweger from Italy.
