Histoire TV
Histoire TV is a French television channel, owned by Groupe TF1. The network mainly carries programming about human history, historical events. History Histoire was launched on 14 July 1997 by an alliance of public holdings (France Télévisions, Institut national de l'audiovisuel, INA and Arte, La Sept-Arte) and private shareholders (Pathé, Wanadoo and Suez (company, 1997–2008), Suez). In June 2004, the Groupe TF1 acquired fully Histoire, privatizing it. On 2 January 2012, the TF1 pay-TV channels joined ISP optional packages. Previously, Histoire was exclusively available on Télévision Par Satellite, TPS, Canalsat and for 0.49€ on Free (ISP), Free. In December 2012, Discovery Communications acquired 20% of Groupe TF1, TF1 pay-TV thematic channels for €170 million for Eurosport and €14 million for Ushuaïa TV, Histoire, Stylia and TV Breizh. Groupe TF1
TF1 Group (french: Groupe TF1) is a French media holding company. Its best-known property is the broadcast network TF1. The group was formed after TF1 was privatized in April 1987. It is controlled with a 43% stake by Bouygues, and is quoted on Euronext Paris. History The history of TF1 traces back to 1975, when the Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (ORTF) was split into 7 successor institutions. To provide competition for Canal+, La Cinq and M6, the French government decided to privatize TF1 in April 1987. Toute L'Histoire
Toute l'Histoire is a French television channel based on historical documentaries. History La Chaîne Histoire was created in April 1996, as part of the launch of the AB Sat satellite package. It started as the French version of The History Channel from the United States which used its logo. After the creation of the channel Histoire by France Télévision and La Sept-ARTE in 1997, AB Groupe renamed the channel Toute l'Histoire in 2000 to avoid confusion with these channels, and also breaking the similarity with the American version. After rumours of the sale of the channel by AB Groupe at the beginning of 2006, it eventually became part of the group of channels exclusively shown on satellite via CanalSat.
