Hispidin is a natural substance. It can also be synthesized. Hispidin 4-''O''-β-D-glucopyranoside can be found in ''Pteris ensiformis'' whereas hispidin derivatives, such as phellibaumins, can be found in the edible mushroom '' Inonotus xeranticus'' or ''Phellinus''.
