Hisham Khatib
Dr. Hisham Khatib (Arabic: "هشام الخطيب") (5 January 1936 – 31 May 2022) was a Jordanian politician and civil servant. He modernized and expanded the Jordanian and Palestinian electrical power capabilities during his service in the sector. He was the first Minister of Power and Mineral Resources in Jordan and Chairman of the Power Commission. During his later years, he served as a member of the Senate (Jordan), Jordanian Senate. Being of Palestinian origin and having spent much of his youth in Jerusalem, he developed a passion for the art and history of Palestine and the Holy Land. This developed into an interest in the region's 18th and 19th-century art and history. He spent considerable time collecting art, books, and artifacts relating to that era. He has also written many books on the topic, including his collection. Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik ( ar, هشام بن عبد الملك, Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik; 691 – 6 February 743) was the tenth Umayyad caliph, ruling from 724 until his death in 743. Early life Hisham was born in Damascus, the administrative capital of the Umayyad Caliphate, in AH 72 (691–692 CE). His father was the Umayyad caliph Abd al-Malik (). His mother was A'isha, daughter of Hisham ibn Isma'il of the Banu Makhzum, a prominent clan of the Quraysh, and Abd al-Malik's longtime governor of the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina. According to the history of al-Tabari (d. 923), Hisham was given the '' kunya'' (patronymic) of Abu al-Walid. There is scant information about Hisham's early life. The World Federation of Scientific Workers (WFSW) is an international federation of scientific associations. It is an NGO in official partnership with Unesco. Its goal is to be involved internationally in all aspects of the role of science, the rights and duties of scientists and their social responsibility. The World Energy Council is a global forum for thought-leadership and tangible engagement with headquarters in London. Its mission is 'To promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all people'. The idea for the foundation of the Council came from Daniel Nicol Dunlop in the 1920s. He wanted to gather experts from all around the world to discuss current and future energy issues.
