His compositions include four operas, many songs and instrumental works, and musical scores for silent films, including the 1925 version of ''The Phantom of the Opera''. John H. Hinrichs (July 10, 1904 – February 13, 1990) was a United States Army lieutenant general who served as the 20th Chief of Ordnance for the United States Army Ordnance Corps. Early life John Honeycutt Hinrichs was born at Sandy Hook Proving Ground in Sandy Hook, New Jersey on July 10, 1904 to Frederic William Hinrichs, Jr and Mary Honeycutt-Hinrichs. He was raised in California. His father and grandfather, John Thomas Honeycutt, were both graduates of the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. His brother, Lieutenant Frederic W. Gustavus Detlef Hinrichs (2 December 1836 – 14 February 1923) was a chemist and natural philosopher most widely known for his findings on periodic laws within the chemical elements. Life Hinrichs was born in 1836 in Lunden in the Duchy of Holstein, which at that time was under the rule of Denmark although it was simultaneously part of the German Confederation. He attended the local polytechnic school and the University of Copenhagen. During his schooling he published several articles and books, including descriptions of the magnetic field of earth and its interaction with the aether. Hinrichs graduated in 1860, between the First and Second Schleswig Wars. He emigrated later that year to the United States, settling initially in Davenport, Iowa, where he taught school, then in nearby Iowa City. Paul Edwin Hinrichs (August 31, 1925 – April 9, 2023) was an American baseball player who was briefly a relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball during the 1951 season. After his baseball career, Hinrichs became a Lutheran minister. Early life Hinrichs was born to a family of German descent in Marengo, Iowa, the son of a Lutheran pastor, on August 31, 1925. He attended Concordia College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and enrolled at Concordia Seminary in Clayton, Missouri in 1943. He married Frances Rauscher in 1948, and they had five children, one of whom predeceased him. Career and education Hinrichs had a 40-year plus career with A.O. Smith Corporation, where he rose to director of Manufacturing Engineering at its Automotive Products Co., leading a technical staff of eighty. Johann von Hinrichs (1752–1834) received training as a military engineer. He served as an officer of Hessian jägers during the American Revolutionary War. He wrote a series of letters to his Minister of War which survive as an important historical record. Some time after the war, he offered his sword to the Kingdom of Prussia. In 1806 he commanded a brigade in the Prussian army and was captured in one of the early battles. American Revolution Hinrichs was born in 1752 and joined the army of Hesse-Kassel. He fought in the American Revolutionary War as part of the first group of Hessian soldiers to arrive in America starting in 1776.
