Hingyon, Ifugao
Hingyon, officially the Municipality of Hingyon is a municipality in the province of Ifugao, Philippines. According to the 2020 CBMS census, it has a population of 9,447 people. Etymology The name “Hingyon” was derived from the Ifugao term “Hing-ngiyon”, meaning a diversion from a major route. The main route then, and even now, is the national road connecting the municipalities of Lagawe and Banaue and the diversion road is at Barangay Piwong, now a part of Hingyon, going towards the municipal mainland. History The Municipality of Hingyon was created by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 239, under Presidential Decree No. 1527 on September 12, 1982. Hingyon consisted then of eleven (11) barangays which were formerly parts of the municipalities of Lagawe and Banaue. Kiangan, Ifugao
Kiangan, officially the Municipality of Kiangan is a municipality in the province of Ifugao, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 17,691 people. It is the oldest town in the province. Kiangan was the former capital of Ifugao until the topology was deemed unfit and moved to neighboring Lagawe. The Nagacadan Rice Terraces are part of the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras World Heritage Site. Etymology The town derives its name from Kiyyangan, an ancient village near the bank of the Ibulao River across the Lagawe valley. The name Kiyyangan is enshrined in Ifugao mythology and is believed to be the dwelling of Wigan and Bugan, the mythological ancestors of the Ifugao. Banaue (or alternatively spelled as Banawe) , officially the Municipality of Banaue ( Ilocano: ''Ili ti Banaue'', Tagalog: ''Bayan ng Banaue''), is a municipality in the province of Ifugao, Philippines. The legislative districts of Ifugao are the representations of the province of Ifugao in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its lone congressional district. ''Ikat'' (literally "to bind" in Malayo-Polynesian languages) is a dyeing technique from Southeast Asia used to pattern textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. In Southeast Asia, where it is the most widespread, ''ikat'' weaving traditions can be divided into two general groups of related traditions. Ifugao
Ifugao, officially the Province of Ifugao (; ), is a landlocked province of the Philippines in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon. Its capital is Lagawe and it borders Benguet to the west, Mountain Province to the north, Isabela to the east, and Nueva Vizcaya to the south. The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras and Banaue Rice Terraces are the main tourist attractions in the province. These terraces are believed to have been hand-carved into the mountains 2,000 years ago to plant rice. However, recent research by carbon dating suggests that they were built much later.
