Hind Khoury
Hind Khoury ( ar, هند خوري, born 12 June 1953) is a Palestinian economist. She was the delegate general of the Palestine Liberation Organization in France from March 2006 until June 2010. Biography Born in Bethlehem, West Bank, then under Jordanian rule, to a Christian family, Khoury was educated in a school run by nuns. She studied economics at Birzeit University near Ramallah, then at the American University of Beirut before the start of the Lebanese Civil War. She then returned to Bethlehem and married an architect with whom she has three children. After the First Intifada, she studied management at Boston University in its Beersheba campus, while working with the United Nations Development Programme. In March 2005, she became Minister of State for Jerusalem Affairs in the Palestinian National Authority, in the government formed shortly after the election of Mahmoud Abbas to the presidency. Palestinian Christians ( ar, مَسِيحِيُّون فِلَسْطِينِيُّون, Masīḥiyyūn Filasṭīniyyūn) are Christian citizens of the State of Palestine. In the wider definition of Palestinian Christians, including the Palestinian refugees, diaspora and people with full or partial Palestinian Christian ancestry this can be applied to an estimated 500,000 people worldwide as of 2000. Khoury
Khoury ( ar, خوري, or ), also transliterated as Khouri, is a Levantine surname that is common to Christians in the Middle East. The term Khoury means "priest" in Levantine Arabic. It derives from the Latin word ''curia.'' Although most popular amongst the population in Lebanon, where it is the most common surname, the name can also be found within Christian communities in Israel, Syria, Palestine, and Jordan. It is often given as a last name to a new priest or minister, replacing the old one and to the children of the married priest and their descendants. The Maronite Church, which is in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, allows married men to become priests. Kairos Palestine is an organization primarily known for its issuance in Bethlehem in December 2009 of the Kairos Palestine document, full title of which is "A moment of truth: A word of faith, hope, and love from the heart of Palestinian suffering", a call by a number of Palestinian Christians to Christians around the world to help fight the Israeli occupation.
