Hilton, Maryland
Hilton is an unincorporated community located in Howard County in the state of Maryland, United States. The crossroads community was formed along the crossroads of old Mantgomery road and Columbia Pike, one mile south of Ellicott City. In 1913, James Booker Clark built a mansion at Elkridge Farm resembling the White House, which was destroyed by fire on 2 July 1920, with a cracked water reservoir at a time when he was facing litigation against family for a failed coal mine project. A Target store in Long Gate shopping center now occupies the site. A National Guard Armory and later Long Gate Shopping Center dominate the eastern boundaries. The location address has been absorbed as part of Ellicott City. Howard County is located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2010 census, the population was 287,085. As of the 2020 census its population rose to 328,200. Its county seat is Ellicott City. Elkridge Farm
Elkridge Farm, is a historic slave plantation located in Ellicott City in Howard County, Maryland, United States. In 1913, James Booker Clark built a mansion resembling the White House to house seven children. James Booker was the son of James Clark, Jr., a Confederate soldier who went into the livestock and banking trade after the war. Senator James A. Clark, Jr. was a nephew who traveled to the property regularly from Keewaydin Farm, down the unimproved Montgomery Road. White House
The White House is the official residence and workplace of the president of the United States. It is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., and has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800. Temora, is a historic home located at Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland. It is a T-shaped, two-story and cupola, Tuscan-style Victorian house of stuccoed tongue-and-groove boards. The house was built in 1857 after a design prepared by Nathan G. Starkweather, a little-known but accomplished architect from Oxford, England, who also designed the First Presbyterian Church and Manse at West Madison Street and Park Avenue in the Mount Vernon-Belvedere neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, with his later more famous assistant - Edmund G. Lind. The house was built for Dr. Arthur Pue Jr. on land given from his grandmother Mary Dorsey Pue of Belmont Estate. White Hall (Ellicott City, Maryland)
White Hall is a historic home located at Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland, United States. It consists of three sections: the east wing, dating from the early 19th century, the center section, and the west wing. In 1890 the house was partially destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1900. Three outbuildings remain on the White Hall property: a small square frame workshop; a smokehouse-privy; and springhouse. White Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Early owners were Caleb Dorsey and his brother Charles Worthington Dorsey (1787-1864), the first County commissioner of the Howard District of Anne Arundel County. Charles Worthington purchased the home in 1828 from Alfred and Ann Dashiel and N.G. Ridgley. with an original building onsite. He built additions to the home in 1857 hiring the architect Nathan G. Hagen House
Hagen House, or Omar Jones House is a historic home located in Ellicott City, Maryland. It is a two-story stone house constructed in the mid-19th century. The home is associated with Omar J. Jones, a prominent Howard County politician and school teacher, who championed the charter form of government for Howard County. The building was built by William Davis for his three sisters in 1845. It was built along the original Columbia turnpike road between Washington and Ellicott City, and is noted on Hopkins 1878 Atlas. Tall vertical windows were added in 1890. The house was later owned by the Josephine Ray and Harry J Bloom, Clara Klashaus, Caleb and Elizabeth Rogers, Joseph and Ella Mae Howes, H. Deets Warfield and P. Stanly Gault.
