Hillview () is located in north west Singapore. The neighbourhood overlooks Bukit Timah Hill, hence its name. Ecology Hillview is naturally endowed with lush greenery as it is encircled by the woodlands of Bukit Gombak to the west, Bukit Batok Nature Park to the south and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to the east. Nearby are several other nature parks, such as Hindhede Nature Park, Dairy Farm Nature Park, Chestnut Nature Park and the upcoming Rifle Range Nature Park. History Industrial Past From the early 1940s to the late 80s, Hillview was an industrial precinct with facilities such as Old Ford Motor Factory (built in 1941), Castrol Oil Company, Union Carbide, Cycle & Carriage Daimler-Benz car assembly plant (built in 1965), and Hume Pipe Company factory with lease to the land granted in 1927. A greenway is usually a shared-use path along a strip of undeveloped land, in an urban or rural area, set aside for recreational use or environmental protection. Greenways are frequently created out of disused railways, canal towpaths, utility or similar rights of way, or derelict industrial land. Greenways also can also be linear parks, and can serve as wildlife corridors. The path's surface may be paved and often serves multiple users: walkers, runners, bicyclists, skaters and hikers. Hume MRT Station
Hume MRT station is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit station located along the junction of Hume Ave and Upper Bukit Timah Road. It is an infill station and will be located near a number of Bukit Timah heritage sites: Bukit Timah Hill, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Former Bukit Timah Fire Station, Fuyong Estate, and Former Ford Factory. The station will have two platforms and will be between Beauty World and Hillview stations on the Downtown Line. Hillview MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown Line, situated on the boundaries of Hillview and Nature Reserve planning subzones, Singapore. The station serves the Upper Bukit Timah corridor, at the junction between Upper Bukit Timah Road, Dairy Farm Road and Hillview Road. The vicinity is largely residential, with commercial buildings such as the Rail Mall and HillV2 within walking distance. The section of tracks between Hillview station and Beauty World MRT station is the longest between any two MRT stations on the Downtown Line till 2025. Selective En Bloc Redevelopment Scheme
The Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme, or SERS for short, is an urban redevelopment strategy employed by the Housing and Development Board in Singapore in maintaining and upgrading public housing flats in older estates in the city-state. Launched in August 1995, it involves a small selection of specific flats in older estates which undergo demolition and redevelopment to optimise land use, as opposed to upgrading of existing flats via the Main Upgrading and Interim Upgrading Programmes. Bukit Gombak is a subzone of Bukit Batok, Singapore. It is a hilly neighbourhood in the west-central area of the Southeast Asian city-state of Singapore. In the Malay language, ''bukit'' means hill and ''gombak'' a bunch or collection of something. The neighbourhood consists of two hills. One of them stands at 133m while the other stands at 113m. They are Singapore's second and third highest natural point after Bukit Timah Hill. The Former Ford Factory (also Old Ford Motor Factory and Old Ford Factory depending on sources) is located along Upper Bukit Timah Road at Bukit Timah in Singapore.
