Hume MRT Station
Hume MRT station is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit station located along the junction of Hume Ave and Upper Bukit Timah Road. It is an infill station and will be located near a number of Bukit Timah heritage sites: Bukit Timah Hill, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Former Bukit Timah Fire Station, Fuyong Estate, and Former Ford Factory. The station will have two platforms and will be between Beauty World and Hillview stations on the Downtown Line. The new station is planned to open by 2025, but MP Low Yen Ling has mentioned that construction work could start in the fourth quarter of 2020, with a veteran MRT contractor claiming that retrofitting of the station for operational service could take between "one and one-and-a-half years". 1 Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Upper Bukit Timah Road
Bukit Timah Road (; ms, Jalan Bukit Timah; ta, புக்கித் திமா சாலை) is a major road in Singapore extending from the city centre to Woodlands Road on the way to Johor Bahru in Malaysia. The road has a length of 25 km (15.5 miles), which makes it one of the longest roads in Singapore, and the road takes its name from the hill. An infill station (sometimes in-fill station) is a train station built on an existing passenger rail, rapid transit, or light rail line to address demand in a location between existing stations. Such stations take advantage of existing train service and encourage new riders by providing a more convenient location. Bukit Timah, often abbreviated as Bt Timah, is a planning area and residential estate located in the westernmost part of the Central Region of Singapore. Bukit Timah lies roughly from the Central Business District, bordering the Central Water Catchment to the north, Bukit Panjang to the northwest, Queenstown to the south, Tanglin to the southeast, Clementi to the southwest, Novena to the east and Bukit Batok to the west. Owing to its prime location, Bukit Timah has some of the densest clusters of luxury condominiums and landed property in the city, with very few public housing. Bukit Timah Hill
Bukit Timah Hill, located in its namesake district of Bukit Timah, is a hill located near the geographical centre of Singapore. The hill stands at an altitude of 164 metres (538 ft) above sea level, making it the highest natural peak in the country. The highest ''point'' in Singapore, however, is the 284 metre Guoco Tower, one of numerous buildings taller than the hill. The summit, which features a pair of 60 m (200 ft) VHF steel lattice radio masts built in the 1960s, is accessible by several walking trails and a paved maintenance road not open to the public. The hill is now protected as part of the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which has been classified as an ASEAN Heritage Park. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve ( abbreviation: BTNR) is a nature reserve near the geographic centre of Singapore, located on the slopes of Bukit Timah Hill, the country's highest natural peak standing at a height of approximately , and parts of the surrounding area. The nature reserve is about from the Downtown Core, Singapore's central business district (CBD). Together with the neighbouring Central Catchment Nature Reserve (CCNR) in close proximity, it houses over 840 species of flowering plants and over 500 species of fauna. Today, it is one of the largest patches of primary rainforest left in Singapore. The forest reserve was formally declared as an ASEAN Heritage Park on 18 October 2011. Former Ford Factory
The Former Ford Factory (also Old Ford Motor Factory and Old Ford Factory depending on sources) is located along Upper Bukit Timah Road at Bukit Timah in Singapore. It is the place where the British Army forces surrendered to Imperial Japanese Army forces on 15 February 1942 after the Battle of Singapore. The Old Ford Motor Factory had since been gazetted as a National Monument in 2006, and converted into an exhibition gallery and archive named ''Memories at Old Ford Factory''.
