Store Dyrehave
Store Dyrehave (literally Large Animal Park) is a forest located to the east of the village Ny Hammersholt immediately south of Hillerød, on both sides of Københavnsvej, in North Zealand, Denmark. Consisting of conifers and beech, it was enclosed with stone walls in 1619–28 as a royal deer park for hunting. In 1680, Christian V introduced a geometrical system of roads forming a star with eight branches for par force hunting. Although par force hunting was discontinued in 1777, the road system and numbered stone posts remain fully intact. Store Dyrehave is one of the three forests forming the Par force hunting landscape in North Zealand, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Location Store Dyrehave has an almost quadratic shape. Tisvildeleje
Tisvildeleje is the village and coastal part of the area known as Tisvilde located on the north coast of the island Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark 60 km/40miles north of Copenhagen in Region Hovedstaden. To the West, Tisvildeleje is bordered by the protected plantation of Tisvilde Hegn egn=fence which is Denmark’s fifth largest forest. The beaches of Tisvildeleje, are known for their white sands and soft dunes. The beach uses large boulders as rock armour and groynes for sea defense in most places. A sea wall also protects a stretch of the coast. Etymology The name "Tisvilde" is derived from "Ti's vælde", meaning ''a place dedicated to the God Tyr''. Where the church of Tibirke Kirke is situated nowadays, there was once a prehistoric “vi” meaning a holy place or place of sacrifice. In prehistoric times, humans were sacrificed here. Græsted
Græsted is one of the main towns of the Gribskov municipality in the Danish Region Hovedstaden. The town is in northern Sjælland, just south of Gilleleje, and has a population of 3,561 (1 January 2022). The whole of Græsted Parish had 4769 inhabitants (2004). History Græsted's original name was Gresholdt, which means a place with grass and forest. Gresholdt is mentioned for the first time in Esrum Klosterbog in 1299. The area then belonged to Holbo Herred. On 20 January 1880, the railroad between Græsted and Hillerød was inaugurated. Nordbanen is one of six radial S-train lines in Copenhagen. Christian IV (12 April 1577 – 28 February 1648) was King of Denmark and Norway and Duke of Holstein and Schleswig from 1588 until his death in 1648. His reign of 59 years, 330 days is the longest of Danish monarchs and Scandinavian monarchies. A member of the House of Oldenburg, Christian began his personal rule of Denmark in 1596 at the age of 19.
