Sidney Highwood
Captain Sidney William Highwood (30 December 1896 – 1975) was a British World War I flying ace and balloon buster credited with sixteen aerial victories. Biography Highwood was born in Marden, Kent, to William and Sarah Highwood, of Hertsfield Farm. He first served as a private in the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment). In 1917 he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps, and on 11 October was commissioned as a temporary second lieutenant (on probation), being confirmed in his rank on 22 March 1918. He was posted to No. 84 Squadron on 20 May 1918, flying the S.E.5a, where between 8 August and 30 October he accounted for nine enemy observation balloons, five Fokker D.VII fighters, and two Rumpler reconnaissance aircraft, for which he was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. On 9 October 1918 he was appointed a flight commander with the acting rank of captain, but left the RAF after the end of the war, being transferred to the unemployed list on 2 March 1919. A ...

Highwood is a residential neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. it is bounded to the north by McKnight Boulevard, to the east by 4 Street W, to the south by 40 Avenue N and to the west by John Laurie Boulevard. Highwood (electoral District)
Highwood is a provincial electoral district in southern Alberta, Canada. The district is one of 87 in the province mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. The district was created in the 1971 boundary redistribution out of the old Okotoks-High River riding and the North part of Pincher Creek-Crowsnest. The district has favoured right leaning parties since its creation. Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta candidates held the district from 1975 until 2012 when they were unseated by the Wildrose Party. The current representative is RJ Sigurdson, who was first elected in 2019. Highwood River
The Highwood River is a tributary of the Bow River in southwestern Alberta, Canada. Course The Highwood originates in the Canadian Rockies in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, in the Highwood Pass below Mount Arethusa. It flows south and is paralleled by the Kananaskis Trail between Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park, Don Getty Wildland Provincial Park, and ''Emerson Creek Park''. It turns east and flows along Highway 541 and through the community of Longview. Continuing east, it passes through High River, ending when it enters the Bow River southeast of Calgary. Recreation The river is known for flyfishing. A variety of trout species live in the river, including native bull trout. In springtime when the snow is melting the river offers white water rafting.
