It is located in northeast Austin at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Highland Mall Boulevard, just northwest of the I-35/ Highway 290 interchange directly across the street from Highland Mall. Texas State Highway Loop 111
Loop 111 is a state-maintained roadway located in Austin, Texas. It is named Airport Boulevard. History Spur 111 was originally assigned on August 27, 1940 from SH 70 in Spur, Texas to the Texas State Experimental Farm. On May 19, 1942, it was modified to start at Loop 21. The route number was changed to FM 836 on November 6, 1948. The western part is now FM 2794. On March 22, 1960, Loop 111 was designated as the ''Austin Loop'', running east of Austin from I-35 down to US 290 and extended further south to US 183 on August 23, 1960. This section of road was redesignated as US 183 on June 10, 1966, causing Loop 111 to move to its current location along Airport Boulevard. The section of Airport Boulevard between I-35 and FM 969 was removed from Loop 111 on May 24, 2007, but the signage in that portion has not been removed (as of September 2010). Interstate 35 In Texas
Interstate 35 (I-35) in Texas is a major north–south Interstate Highway running from Laredo near the Mexican border to the Red River north of Gainesville where it crosses into Oklahoma. Along its route, it passes through the cities of San Antonio, Austin, and Waco before it splits into two auxiliary routes just north of Hillsboro. I-35E heads northeast where it passes through Dallas. I-35W turns northwest to run through Fort Worth. Highland Mall was a shopping mall located in north Austin, Texas, United States, on Airport Boulevard west of I-35 and north of US Route 290. Opened in 1971, Highland Mall was Austin's first suburban shopping mall. Highland Mall was jointly owned by General Growth and Simon Property Group until 2011. Austin Community College began acquiring the surrounding land in 2010, assumed ownership of the last parcel it did not already control in August 2011. Gold Line (CapMetro)
The Gold Line is a proposed transitway for connecting North Central Austin and the Downtown's Eastside to South Austin. It is in the planning stages as a part of Capital Metro's Project Connect. According to the plan, the line will be initially be operated as a bus rapid transit line prior to future conversion to light rail. It is estimated to open in 2024.
