Heðin Brú
Heðin Brú (pronounced ; August 17, 1901 – May 18, 1987) was the pen-name of Hans Jacob Jacobsen, a Faroese novelist and translator. Heðin Brú is considered to be the most important Faroese writer of his generation and is known for his fresh and ironic style. His novel, '' Feðgar á ferð'' (''The Old Man and His Sons''), was chosen as the ''Book of the twentieth century'' by the Faroese. Life and Works Hans Jacobsen was born in 1901 in Skálavík. Like many of his countrymen, Jacobsen worked as a fisherman in his early years. After two seasons, he left to study agriculture in Denmark. When he returned to the Faroes, he worked as an agricultural advisor—a job that took him to all parts of the country. The contacts he made with ordinary village people he met during this time had a lasting effect on his writing. Heðin á Lakjuni (born 19 February 1978) is a former Faroese international footballer, who played as a full-back and a winger for four Faroese clubs in the top tier. Lakjuni started his career with KÍ Klaksvík and had spells with B36 Tórshavn, HB Tórshavn, and NSÍ Runavík. He has won the Faroe Islands Premier League 3 times, and the Faroe Islands Cup 4 times. Since April 2015 he holds the record for most league appearances with 417 matches in the Faroe Islands Premier League. He scored 100 goals in the Faroe Islands Premier League. Lakjuni has celebrated domestic doubles with three different teams (KÍ, B36, and HB). Heðin Mortensen
Heðin Mortensen (born April 7, 1946) is a Faroese politician and member of the Social Democratic Party. He was the mayor of the Municipality of Tórshavn, serving from January 1, 2021, and succeeded by Elsa Berg in 2024. He was also mayor from January 1, 2005, to December 31, 2016. Mortensen was born in Trongisvágur. He worked as a mechanic from 1961 to 1978, when he became an insurance agent for The Faroe Insurance Company (). He headed the Tórshavn Rowing Club from 1973 to 1979, the Tórshavn Athletics Association () from 1975 to 1978, and the Faroese Athletics Association () from 1980 to 2000. He was also the chair of the Tórshavn Theater Society from 1996 to 2003. He has been a supervisory board member of the power company SEV since 1973 and was its director from 1993 to 1997.
