Üsküdar
Üsküdar () is a large and densely populated district of Istanbul, Turkey, on the Anatolian shore of the Bosphorus. It is bordered to the north by Beykoz, to the east by Ümraniye, to the southeast by Ataşehir and to the south by Kadıköy; with Karaköy, Kabataş, Beşiktaş, and the historic city center of Fatih facing it on the opposite shore to the west. Üsküdar has been a conservative cultural center of the Anatolian/Asian side of Istanbul since Ottoman times with its numerous grand and little historic mosques and dergahs. It is home to about half a million people. Üsküdar is a major transport hub, with ferries to Eminönü, Karaköy, Kabataş, Besiktaş and some of the Bosphorus suburbs. Unpowered flight is the ability to stay airborne for a period of time without using any power source. There are several types of unpowered flight. Some have been exploited by nature, others by humankind, and some by both. Unpowered aircraft are aerial vehicles that can fly without any propulsion mechanism. ''Istanbul Beneath My Wings'' (Original Turkish title: ''İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında'') is a 1996 Turkish film, written and directed by Mustafa Altıoklar. It is a dramatization of Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi's reported flight across the Bosphorus from Galata. Plot The film takes place in the 17th century. Hezarfen Ahmet Çelebi and Lagari Hasan Çelebi are researching bird flight. The new Sultan Murat IV resists the domination of his mother, the Valide Kösem Sultan and tries to enforce strict law and order in the empire. Meanwhile, a Venetian ship that has been captured by Algerian pirates is brought into Istanbul. One of those on the ship is a girl with a manuscript showing how to fly, the latter of which comes into Hezarfen's possession. However, this manuscript can't be deciphered by anyone. Istanbul Hezarfen Airfield
Hezarfen Airfield ( tr, Hezarfen Havaalanı) is a privately owned airport for general aviation in the Çatalca district of Istanbul, Turkey. One of the four airports in Istanbul, it is named after Hezârfen Ahmet Çelebi, a legendary Ottoman aviator, who flew across the Bosporus in the 17th century, as told by a contemporary traveler Evliya Çelebi. The airfield is on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Büyükçekmece to the south and by the motorway to the north. It is west of Istanbul. Since 1992, it has served as the first internationally acknowledged private airport in Turkey. Its asphalt runway is long and wide.
