Herzog Hospital
Herzog Hospital (formerly Ezrat Nashim Hospital) ( he, בית חולים הרצוג) is a geriatric-psychiatric hospital in West Jerusalem. It is the third largest hospital in the city. Herzog Hospital specializes in nursing care for the elderly. The director-general of the hospital is Jacob Haviv. History The Ezrat Nashim society was established in 1895 to provide care for the chronically ill. The original building was planned by Israel Prize winner, architect Arieh Sharon in 1961. Until the late 1960s, the hospital specialized in psychiatric inpatient cases. Since then, it has been a geriatric hospital that treats both the elderly and the mentally ill, and engages in clinical research in geriatrics and psychiatry. Herzog Hospital has 330 beds, 70 percent designated for geriatric patients. It also operates outpatient clinics to treat problems associated with aging. West Jerusalem

The Israel Prize ( he, פרס ישראל; ''pras israél'') is an award bestowed by the State of Israel, and regarded as the state's highest cultural honor. Arieh Sharon
Arieh Sharon ( he, אריה שרון; May 28, 1900 – July 24, 1984) was an Israeli architect and winner of the Israel Prize for Architecture in 1962. Sharon was a critical contributor to the early architecture in Israel and the leader of the first master plan of the young state, reporting to then Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion. Sharon studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau under Walter Gropius and Hannes Meyer and on his return to Israel (then Palestine) in 1931, started building in the International Style, better known locally as the Bauhaus style of Tel Aviv. Sharon built private houses, cinemas and in 1937 his first hospital, a field in which he specialized in his later career, planning and constructing many of the country's largest medical centers. Snoezelen
Snoezelen or controlled multisensory environment (MSE) is a therapy for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, dementia or brain injury. It consists of placing the person in a soothing and stimulating environment, called the "Snoezelen room". These rooms are specially designed to deliver stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, color, sounds, music, scents, etc. The combination of different materials on a wall may be explored using tactile senses, and the floor may be adjusted to stimulate the sense of balance. The person is usually accompanied by an aide or therapist. Developed in the Netherlands in the 1970s, Snoezelen rooms (snoezelroom) have been established in institutions all over the world and are especially common in Germany, where more than 1,200 exist. The Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma (ICTP) affiliated with Herzog Hospital in West Jerusalem, is a community-based trauma center. History The Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma was established in 1989 to improve the level of trauma-related services in Israel and around the world. ICTP has developed a comprehensive range of clinical and community-based services.
