Brooksville is a city in western Florida and the county seat of Hernando County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 7,719, up from 7,264 at the 2000 census. Brooksville is home to historic buildings and residences, including the homes of former Florida Governor William Sherman Jennings and football player Jerome Brown. It is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hernando County is a county located on the west central coast of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 194,515. Its county seat is Brooksville, and its largest community is Spring Hill. Hernando County is included in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hernando High School is a public high school located in Brooksville, Florida. It is part of the Hernando County School District. It has been in operation since 1889, which makes it one of the oldest, continuously operating public high schools in the United States. Community Hernando High School is one of five high schools in Hernando County. Nature Coast Technical High School
Nature Coast Technical High School (also known as NCTHS) is a magnet school located in Brooksville, Florida. It opened for its first year in the fall of 2003. The high school offers a specialized set of programs, called "clusters" for students to choose from. Students are required to participate in their cluster program for three years, and some offer an optional fourth year. They are currently offering clusters in Digital Video Production, Information Technology, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Criminal Justice, Allied Health, Automotive Maintenance, Aerospace Technology, Commercial and Performing Arts, and Energy Technician.
