Hjörtur Hermannsson (; born 8 February 1995) is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Serie B club Pisa and the Iceland national team. Club career Fylkir Born in Reykjavík, Iceland, Hermannsson began his career at Fylkir, based in the Icelandic top division. After going through the ranks for the side, Hermannsson was involved in the first team, where he appeared in the first two matches of the season as an unused substitute. Weeks later, on 6 June 2011, Hermannsson made his Fylkir debut, where he came on as a late substitute, in a 3–1 loss against Stjarnan. Soon after, Hermannsson became a first team regular and then scored his first goal for the club, as well as his first professional goal, in a 2–1 win over Víkingur. Sverrir Hermannsson
Sverrir Hermannsson (26 February 1930 – 12 March 2018) was an Icelandic politician, businessman, and banker. Early life Sverrir was born in the Svalbarði farm in Ögurvík, Ísafjarðardjúp, on 26 February 1930, to Hermann Hermannsson and Salóme Rannveig Gunnarsdóttir. He graduated from a high school in Akureyri in 1951 and earned a business degree from the University of Iceland in 1955. Career Beginning in politics as a member of the Independence Party, he was Speaker of the lower chamber of Althing from 1979 to 1983. Sverrir was Minister of Industry from 1983 to 1985, followed by Minister of Education from 1985 until 1987. From 1975 to 1983, and again from 1987 to 1988, he sat on the Nordic Council. In 1988, he resigned from the Althing to manage Landsbanki where he served until 1998. Martin Hermannsson
Martin Hermannsson (born 16 September 1994) is an Icelandic professional basketball player for Valencia of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. He also internationally represents the Icelandic national basketball team, with which he participated in the EuroBasket 2015 and EuroBasket 2017. In 2019, Martin was named the Icelandic Men's Basketball Player of the Year for the fourth year in a row. Playing career Martin started his senior team career with KR at the age of 15. With KR, he went on to win the Icelandic championship twice, in 2011 and 2014. Steingrímur Hermannsson
Steingrímur Hermannsson (pronounced ; 22 June 1928 – 1 February 2010) was an Icelandic politician who served as prime minister of Iceland from 1983 to 1987, and again from 1988 to 1991. Early childhood Steingrímur's father was Hermann Jónasson, another former Prime Minister. Being the son of a prominent official, Steingrímur enjoyed a relatively care-free upbringing in a country stricken by the Great Depression. As a young boy he had an exceptional proximity to Iceland's World War II politics, overhearing state affairs being discussed in his father's living room. Education Not wanting to follow his father's footsteps into politics, Steingrímur went to the U.S. in 1948.
