Hermann Kopp
Hermann Kopp (born 21 August 1954, in Stuttgart) is a German composer and musician, presently living in Barcelona, Spain. Biography In the early eighties, Kopp released two vinyl records with a sound that can be vaguely classified as electronic minimalism and then became a member of the German electro-industrial band Keine Ahnung with which he played live in Mannheim and Berlin. In 1987 he participated in the soundtrack of the German horror film ''Nekromantik'', followed in 1989 by music to the movie ''Der Todesking'' and in 1990 to ''Nekromantik 2''. Unlike the early song material that tends to be intimist and voluntarily drawing on the kitsch side, his film scores create uneasy and haunting atmospheres, weaving atonal strings, slow motion rhythms, moog synthesizers and plain noise into soundtrack form. Industrial Music
Industrial music is a genre of music that draws on harsh, mechanical, transgressive or provocative sounds and themes. AllMusic defines industrial music as the "most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music" that was "initially a blend of avant-garde electronics experiments (tape music, musique concrète, white noise, synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) and punk provocation". The term was coined in the mid-1970s with the founding of Industrial Records by members of Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza. While the genre name originated with Throbbing Gristle's emergence in the United Kingdom, artists and labels vital to the genre also emerged in the United States and other countries. ''Nekronology'' is an album by the German avant-garde/experimental musician Hermann Kopp. It was released in October 2004 as a CD and in July 2009 as a vinyl LP, with a different artwork. The album is a compilation of Kopp's soundtracks to the German films Nekromantik, Der Todesking and Nekromantik 2 by the film director Jörg Buttgereit, completed by two bonus tracks. Uwe Barschel
Uwe Barschel (13 May 1944 – 11 October 1987) was a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who served as Minister-President in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Having assumed office of Minister-President at the age of 38, Barschel is as of to date the youngest head of government of a federal state in Germany, just as the youngest former Minister-President to die. He died nine days after his resignation at age of 43. He was found dead under mysterious circumstances on 11 October 1987 when his clothed body was discovered in a full bathtub at the Hotel Beau-Rivage in Geneva, Switzerland, shortly after he became embroiled in scandal during the 1987 state election. Along with sales to distributors, Vinyl On Demand provides a subscription service. Most releases are limited to 500 copies and between subscribers and distributors they often sell out. History Vinyl On Demand was founded in 2003 by Frank Maier. Maier is a record collector and archivist whose focus has always been on early minimal synth, drone, and Industrial recordings of the late 1970s and early 1980s, particularly obscure cassette recordings.
