Hermann Berthelsen (born 2 March 1956) is a Greenlandic politician and affiliated with the Siumut party. Sisimiut
Sisimiut (), formerly known as Holsteinsborg, is the capital and largest city of the Qeqqata municipality, the second-largest city in Greenland, and the largest Arctic city in North America.The term 'city' is loosely used to describe any populated area in Greenland, given that the most populated place is Nuuk, the capital, with 16,454 inhabitants. The term 'Arctic' is interpreted as strictly the area within the Arctic Circle. It is located in central-western Greenland, on the coast of Davis Strait, approximately north of Nuuk. Malik Berthelsen is a Greenlandic politician serving as the Mayor of Qeqqata, chairman of the Qeqqata municipal council, and a former member of the Parliament of Greenland, the Inatsisartut. Qeqqata
Qeqqata (, da, Centrum, lit=Centre) is a municipality in western Greenland, operational from 1 January 2009. The municipality was named after its location in the central-western part of the country. Its population is 9,378 as of January 2020. The administrative center of the municipality is in Sisimiut (formerly called Holsteinsborg). Creation It consists of the previously unincorporated area of Kangerlussuaq, as well as two former municipalities of western Greenland, Maniitsoq and Sisimiut. Geography In the south and east, the municipality is flanked by the Sermersooq municipality, although settlements and associated trade is concentrated mainly alongside the coast. Siumut
Siumut (, ) is a political party in Greenland in the social democratic tradition. Since the establishment of home rule in 1979, it has been the dominant party in Greenland. Siumut is led by Erik Jensen, who beat the then-incumbent Prime Minister Kim Kielsen in a tight leadership contest in late 2020. Party members have been elected to both the parliament of Greenland and the parliament of Denmark. Siumut was formed in 1971 as a political movement, and became a party in 1977. Sermitsiaq (newspaper)
''Sermitsiaq'' is one of two national newspapers in Greenland. It is named after the mountain Sermitsiaq. The newspaper was published for the first time May 21, 1958, as a Kalaallisut-language alternative to the Danish-language newspaper ''Mikken''. The two magazines were printed separately, with Mikken on Saturdays and Sermitsiaq on Mondays for about six months, until Mikken was published for the last time on 22 November the same year. ''Sermitsiaq'' was first printed in both Danish and Kalaallisut the week before ''Mikken'' closed down. ''Sermitsiaq'' was a local newspaper distributed only in Nuuk city until around 1980 when the newspaper became national. The newspaper became increasingly political in the period around 1980, since Greenland was granted home rule in 1979. KANUKOKA
KANUKOKA ( kl, Kalaallit Nunaanni Kommunit Kattuffiat, da, De Grønlandske Kommuners Landsforening) was the national association of Greenland's municipalities, led by Palle Jeremiassen. The name was an acronym formed from the first two letters of each of the constituent words of the now defunct organization's name in the Greenlandic language. The aim of the organization was to facilitate cooperation between the municipalities of Greenland. Previously based in Nuuk, the organization ran the municipal elections every four years, with the last election taking place in 2016. All municipal authorities in Greenland were members of the organization up until its 2018 dissolution.
