Heretica
''Heretica'' was a conservative cultural and literary magazine published in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 1948 to 1953. History and profile ''Heretica'' was established in 1948. One of the founders was Thorkild Bjørnvig. It was largely inspired by the British periodical ''The Criterion'' by T. S. Eliot. The magazine adopted an anti-ideological humanism approach. The magazine ended publication in 1953 and was succeeded by another magazine, '' Vindrosen''. Contributors and content ''Heretica'' was produced by the poets who looked for new reality challenging the conventional ideas of Christianity, humanism and communism. The magazine also covered the poems and writings of promising authors. The contributors of the magazine were called the Heretica School members, who had conservative existentialist views. Thorkild Bjørnvig
Thorkild Strange Bjørnvig (; 2 February 1918, Aarhus, Denmark – 5 March 2004, Samsø) was a Danish author and poet. Overview Bjørnvig studied literature at the University of Aarhus and his prize winning MA thesis (1947) was about Rainer Maria Rilke, whose works he later translated into Danish. With Bjørn Poulsen he founded the literary journal ''Heretica'', as a reaction against the modernist and realist wave in Danish literature, that had prevailed in the years before the Second World War. Bjørnvig also edited the first two volumes of the magazine. ''Heretica'' was largely inspired by the British periodical ''The Criterion'' by T. S. Eliot and was published from 1948–1953, promoting writers such as Frank Jæger, Jørgen Gustava Brandt, Benny Andersen and Per Højholt. Vindrosen
''Vindrosen'' (Danish: ''Compass Card'') was a Danish modernist cultural and literary magazine existed between 1954 and 1974. It was one of the Danish publications which improved the cultural journalism in the country. History and profile ''Vindrosen'' was established in 1954 as a successor to another cultural magazine ''Heretica''. The magazine was published by the leading Danish company Gyldendal in Copenhagen. The focus of ''Vindrosen'' was on literary work. During the 1950s the magazine was under the influence of the writers contributed to ''Heretica''. However, later it abandoned their views and cold war approach. Instead, ''Vindrosen'' began to focus on the third world countries. Tage Skou-Hansen
Tage Skou-Hansen (12 February 1925 – 11 November 2015) was a Danish writer, editor and scholar. Overview Born in the town of Fredericia, Tage Skou-Hansen graduated from Marselisborg Gymnasium in Aarhus and became a student of history of literature at Aarhus University. As a student, he worked as an editor of two literary magazines, one of which was '' Heretica'', before the publication of his first novel, ''De Nøgne Træer'' (The Bare Trees), in 1957. After receiving his degree, Tage taught literature at Askov Højskole for nine years, before concentrating on writing from 1967. Apart from his novels, Tage Skou-Hansen's works also includes two plays and a realized film manuscript. He has received many prizes and scholarships throughout his career. Per Højholt
Per Højholt (22 July 1928 – 15 October 2004) was a Denmark, Danish poet. Højholt had his debut in 1948 when he published "De nøgne" (The Naked Ones), a series of poems which appeared in the magazine ''Heretica''. His first collection was ''Hesten og solen'', featuring religiously inspired poems. A major work came with ''Poetens hoved'' (The Head of the Poet) which appeared in 1963. This collection took a Modernist stance and meant a break with late Symbolism (arts), Symbolism. Although a highly experimental and unorthodox writer, he became a popular poet. This is not least due to ''Gittes monologer'' (Gitte's Monologues). He toured the country with his recitals of these monologues which received considerable attention. Højholt was awarded "Den store pris" from the Danish Academy in 1982 and the Holberg Medal in 1997. Frank Jæger
Frank Jæger (19 June 1926 - 4 July 1977) was a Danish writer most known for his poetry and radio plays. He received the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy in 1969. He also edited two volumes of ''Heretica'' magazine with Tage Skou-Hansen. Early life and education Jæger was born in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen on 19 June 1926. He graduated from Schneekloth's School in 1945 and from the Royal School of Library Science in 1950 but could by then already make a living from his writings.
