Herbert Hardacre
Herbert Freemont Hardacre (7 March 1861 – 5 March 1938) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1893 until 1919. Politics Herbert Hardacre was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly having won Leichhardt at the 1893 colonial election as the Labor Party candidate. He was Secretary for Public Lands and Secretary for Agriculture from 1 December 1899 to 7 December 1899. He was Secretary for Public Instruction from 1 June 1915 to 9 September 1919. He held Leichhardt until he resigned on 14 October 1919 in order to take up an appointment in the Land Court. Electoral District Of Leichhardt (Queensland)
Leichhardt was an Queensland Legislative Assembly electoral districts, electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1860 to 1932. Taking in areas of central Queensland west of the Great Dividing Range, the district in its original form stretched as far as Mackay, Queensland, Mackay in the north and as far south as Taroom, Queensland, Taroom. Originally a dual member constituency, it was one of the sixteen districts contested at the 1860 Queensland colonial election, first colonial election in 1860. It became a single member constituency in 1873 but reverted to being a dual member electorate in 1878. A single member constituency again in 1888, it remained that way thereafter. One of the district's first members was Robert Herbert, the first Premier of Queensland. This is a list of members of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1904 to 1907, as elected at the 1904 state election held on 27 August 1904. At the start of the period, the state was governed by a coalition of a Liberal group led by Arthur Morgan, and the Labour Party led by William Kidston, while the Conservatives led by former Premier Robert Philp sat in opposition. In 1906, Morgan left to become president of the Queensland Legislative Council, replacing Hugh Nelson who had died on 1 January, and Kidston became Premier.
