Henry Wyndham Palmer
Henry Wyndham Palmer (1826 – 10 May 1887) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Palmer was born in Armagh, Ireland, the son of Arthur Palmer and his wife Emily (née Hunter). His brother, Arthur Hunter Palmer went on to be Premier of Queensland. When he came to Australia he worked the gold mines of Charters Towers and also pastoral pursuits in both Queensland and New South Wales. He was a part owner of the ''Charters Towers Daily Herald''. Kennedy was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. History In 1864, the ''Additional Members Act'' created six additional electoral districts, each returning 1 member: * Clermont * Kennedy * Maryborough * Mitchell * Rockhampton * Warrego The first elections in these six electorates were held in 1865 (that is, during a parliamentary term and not as part of a general election across Queensland). The nomination date for the election in Kennedy was 18 February 1865 and the election was held on 18 March 1865. Arthur Hunter Palmer
Sir Arthur Hunter Palmer (28 December 1819 – 20 March 1898) was an Irish-Australian politician who served as the fifth Premier of Queensland, in office from 1870 to 1874. He later held ministerial office in Thomas McIlwraith's ministry from 1879 to 1881, before serving as President of the Queensland Legislative Council from 1881 until his death in 1898. Early life Palmer was born in Armagh, Ireland, the son of Lieutenant Arthur Palmer, RN, and his wife, Emily ''née'' Hunter. Palmer was educated at Youghal Grammar School and by a private tutor in Dublin. Palmer emigrated to New South Wales in 1838, arriving in Sydney on the ''City of Edinburgh''. Palmer worked for many years for Henry Cary Dangar on his New England stations, eventually becoming general manager of all Dangar's holdings. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. John Murtagh Macrossan
John Murtagh Macrossan (1832 – 30 March 1891) was an Australian politician of the late 19th century in the parliament of Queensland. Early and parliamentary life Macrossan was born in Donegal, Ireland. He moved to the colony of Victoria at the age of 21 to work on the gold diggings. Twelve years later he moved to North Queensland where he became well known among the miners in 1873 was elected a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for the Kennedy electoral district. He championed the causes of regulation of the mining industry and Separatism of North Queensland as a separate colony.
