Henry T. Sloane
Henry Thompson Sloane (December 1, 1845 – September 18, 1937) was an American businessman during the Gilded Age. Early life Sloane was born in New York City on December 1, 1845. He was the fourth son of William Sloane (1810–1879) and Euphemia (née Douglas) Sloane (1810–1886). Among his siblings was John Sloane, who married Adela Berry; Douglas Sloane; Mary Elizabeth Sloane; William Douglas Sloane, who married Emily Thorn Vanderbilt; and Euphemia (née Sloane) Coffin, who married Edmund Coffin and was the mother of Rev. Henry Sloane Coffin and William Sloane Coffin Sr. His parents were emigrants from Kilmarnock, Scotland. His paternal grandparents were John Sloane and Jane Mary (née Lammie) Sloane, and his maternal grandparents were David and Margaret Douglas. Stephen Henry Olin (April 22, 1847 – August 6, 1925) was a lawyer and the acting president of Wesleyan University and a member of New York society during the Gilded Age. Early life Olin was born on April 22, 1847, in Middletown, Connecticut. He was the son of Stephen Olin (1797–1851) and Julia Matilda (née Lynch) Olin (1814–1879), his father's second wife after his first marriage to Mary Bostwick. Anne Harriman Sands Rutherfurd Vanderbilt (February 17, 1861 – April 20, 1940) was an American heiress known for her marriages to prominent men and her role in the development of the Sutton Place neighborhood as a fashionable place to live. Early life Anne Harriman was born on February 17, 1861. She was one of eight children born to banker Oliver Harriman (1829–1904) and Laura (née Low) Harriman (1834–1901).
