Henry Carroll (general)
Henry Carroll was an American brigadier general of the American Civil War and the Spanish–American War. He was known for commanding the 1st Brigade of the Cavalry Division during the Battle of San Juan Hill but was wounded during the battle and had to be succeeded by Brigadier General Samuel S. Sumner. Early military career Carroll was born at Copenhagen, New York on May 20, 1836, but moved to Minnesota on 1858. He enlisted as a private at Light Battery E of the 3rd Artillery Regiment on January 13, 1859, at Fort Ridgely. He was promoted to corporal, sergeant, first sergeant as of July 1, 1861. He took part in a campaign against the Sioux in the summer of 1859 within Dakota. Henry Carroll (soccer)
Henry "Razzo" Carroll (July 12, 1909 – January 14, 1999) was a U.S. soccer forward who played in both the first and second American Soccer Leagues. He led the league in scoring in 1934. He also earned two caps, scoring one goal, with the U.S. national team in 1928. Carroll began his club career with the Bayonne Rovers S.C. in the late 1920s. He was selected for the U.S. team at the 1928 Summer Olympics. On May 20, 1928, the U.S. lost by a score of 11-2 to Argentina in the first round. Carroll scored the second of the two U.S. goals. As the tournament was single elimination, the U.S. now had free time so they traveled to Warsaw where they tied Poland 3-3, Carroll playing in that game. In 1929, Carroll signed with the Brooklyn Wanderers in the American Soccer League. However, he did not break into the first team until the 1930 fall season when he scored five goals in six games. Henry George Carroll
Henry George Carroll, (January 31, 1865 – August 20, 1939) was a Canadian politician, jurist and the 16th Lieutenant Governor of Quebec from 1929 to 1934 and the last anglophone to serve in that position to the present day. Born in Kamouraska, Canada East to Michael Burke Carroll of Ireland and Marguerite Campbell of Scotland, Carroll studied law at Laval University, was called to the Quebec Bar in 1889, and was created a Queen's Counsel in 1899. A Liberal, he was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in 1891 representing Kamouraska and was re-elected in 1896 and 1900. He was appointed Solicitor General of Canada in 1902 and served until 1904 at a time when the position was not a cabinet office but was part of the ministry under the Minister of Justice. He left politics to become a judge in the Quebec Superior Court in 1904 and was appointed to the Court of King's Bench in 1908. Henry Nelson Carroll
Henry Nelson Carroll (born December 21, 1937 in St. Boniface, Manitoba and died June 19, 2015) was a lawyer and politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1981 to 1986, initially as a New Democrat but subsequently as an independent. Carroll was educated at the University of Manitoba, and practiced as a lawyer after being called to the bar in 1964. He first ran for the provincial legislature in the election of 1973 as a New Democrat, finishing second to Progressive Conservative Edward McGill in Brandon West. He ran for the seat again in the provincial election of 1977, with the same result. McGill did not seek re-election in the provincial election of 1981, and Carroll was able to take the seat on his third try, defeating Tory candidate John Allen by about 400 votes.
